mcdowell was obviously injured the last couple games, at least. those twisting that into 'body language saying he didn't want to be there' are being absurd.

I am not aware he was injured the last couple games. How do you know that?
You have some special insight on this that no one else has? Many expect Fife to win the starting job. We have a deep and capable QB room.

Hauck has to stick to his philosophy.
He's very successfully kept players here, compared to MOST programs.
If he gives into taking players back, we'll be experiencing many more players experimenting with the portal every season. It would be terrible for program continuity.
Why would Hauck even consider risk losing what he's built? Players need to know, no player is BIGGER than the program! Stick to your guns Bobby!

I didn't see anyone saying they want him to play for MSU, was more of a "what if" type scenario. At this point it seems he won't be coming back (based on his X feed) and I wouldn't be surprised if another Big Sky school picked him up after playing against him/seeing his performance in Conference play last season.
oh, i forgot that bit sky coaches have infallible judgement and ability to know what is in the mind of others.
i base what i say on mcdowell limping, moving much gingerly than before, stuff like that. observation. i do not base it on what bob hauck said after his team got their ass kicked.
Yes! If a precedent is set allowing one guy to come back, what happens in future years when 5 test the Portal waters expecting to return if they don't get an offer the hoped for? 10? How does Bobby then plan and build his roster?
I'd suggest the same way he has in this situation: You backfill to cover those losses. If players want back in, they need to understand there may or not be room, there may or may not be a scholarship, and they will have to earn their playing time.

McDowell was limping for last couple of games. You observed that.
I will take the view of a coach, a former Griz coach with good contacts with current coaches, over your view. I felt the same thing about McDowell in Frisco game. For whatever reason, he didn’t play well in the last 1.5 quarters.
No one expects fife to have the starting job. Literally no one.
THE major problem is the near total lack of information from the Athletic Department. Nature abhores a vacuum, so conjecture, speculation, lies, and damned lies fill the void. We really don't know, for a fact, much of anything. McDowell hit the portal AGAIN, and Temple's coach is quoted confirming that. We hear nothing from Bobby. Evidently, journalism is dead west of Philly.
I would like to be able to separate facts from BS. If some of you would post the FACTS as to this McDowell soap opera, I would appreciate your efforts. I'm about ready to chuck this damn phone through the wall in my frustration and disgust.

The ONLY way this happens is IF the team votes him to come back.
It hard for me to believe Bobby, control freak that he is, will even allow a team vote.

No matter what comes of the situation, I believe Bobby, his coaches, and team will treat Clifton with respect and dignity. I have my opinion about a return, but I respect the professionalism of the coaching staff and team in making any determination of what should happen.
