No doubt. We will be seeing a lot of commits as well as offers being announced in this the upcoming weeks. These camps as of lately have served as a try-out of sorts. They give the coaches to see the kids on a play-to-play basis. Highlights on hudl are one thing, but watching how a kid does drill after drill after drill is huge. Hudl can only show so much, now they get a chance to coach them and see how they are mentally, how their leadership is, and how coachable they are. Personally, this is the time I think Montana schools, as in UofM and MSU, should nab Montana kids. Some of the top tier Montana kids will be going out of state to other college camps, and if they are receiving attention from out of state colleges and not their home state ones, it could be seen as an insult of sorts. And I'm talking FCS not NAIA schools here.

No 4 on your list Vim? Max Morris. The one I know is from Helena High not Glacier. Are there two? The Helena kid is a great young man. Not sure he is No 4 in the state but he is a good kid and has good size.

The Helena Max is the son of Brian Morris, a Butte Central Hall of Famer who played at Stanford and is now a federal judge. Wouldn't be surprised to see him go Stanford or Ivy.

Mostly from Wikipedia:

As a senior in the 1981–1982 academic year, he led the football team to the 1981 state championship game and set school records by rushing 1,640 yards and making 236 carries (7 yards a carry). In track, he was the 1982 state champion in both intermediate and high hurdles in the high school's first state championship in track.

Earning a scholarship to Stanford University, Morris was a four-year letterman on the Stanford Cardinal football team and was the team's starting fullback in the 1986 Gator Bowl. In his junior and senior years, he was honorable mention all-Pacific-10 Conference and first team all-academic Pac-10. With 12 pass receptions against UCLA in 1985, Morris is one of the Cardinal's all-time single-game pass reception leaders. Morris earned his Bachelor of Arts in 1986 and his Master of Arts in 1987. As one of only eight students in the United States to earn the NCAA Post-Graduate Scholarship, Morris earned his Juris Doctor with distinction from Stanford Law School in 1992.

I had him in my original top30. Then he slowly fell out when I relooked at it when Vim and I posted them. I don't remember exactly but I do believe he is my 2 or 3 ranked corner. Good talent

When you're evaluating the recruits, how do you compensate for the fact that film is such a small part of recruiting? From the film you watch you can't tell what a kids work ethics, grades, and CHARACTER are. As a fairly new person to this forum, I'm just curious. ~ Thanks!

You couldn't be more correct!!!! So personally what I do is I try to watch a kids teammates film because highlights are a very small selection of film. For work ethic I try to make contact with coaches, but most the time watching their teammates film gives you a good idea of how they are every play, not just the ones where they try 100%. Grades I look on honor roll. Character is the biggest aspect and the hardest to scout. Usually but not always you can get a pretty good idea of what kind of kid they are by watching their effort every single time they are on the field. Recently I've been trying to go to local camps and watch how they are during camp practices, and coach-ability. This year I'm going to try and go to games around the state and watch how their attitude is on the sidelines. But that is how I do it.

Any updates from this weekend's camps? Sounds like Capital won the 7 on 7 skelly competition. I hope the Griz made some good head way on recruiting.

Usually takes a few days to start seeing offers/verbals.

Anyone have any news on new offers/commits, I'm anxious to hear how the Montana high school kids are doing!
