Vim's 2018 Montana High School Football Recruiting List

I said on Bobcatnation that Missoula Loyola product Joe McElroy has everything you want in a high school offensive line prospect. I will say on Egriz today that Nick Germer has everything you want in a high school wide receiver prospect. Runs good routes, a natural pass catcher, and a willing blocker on the outside.

I'm most interested in seeing what Aaron White of Shelby does. Grew up a griz fan both cats and griz have contacted him. His dad and assistant bobcat coach BJ Robertson know each other well. Or will he follow his brother Chase's path and try out Rocky? Going to s fun one to keep track of.

Wasn't Chase White, I'm assuming the one referred to from Shelby as Aaron White's brother/cousin?, a red-shirt with the Griz football team for a year before he transferred to Rocky Mountain?

There's always the great debate over who won the in-state recruiting battle. One thing I ask every single in-state commit for either the Griz or the Bobcats is who they had offers from, who they grew up rooting for and if the school they did not choose ever had a chance. I would say 7 out of 10 in-state kids were going to go to one school or the other if offered by both, so the recruiting "battles" aren't fierce as a great many might think.

Joe McElroy from Missoula Loyola wants to go into pre-nursing, grew up a lifelong Bobcat fan who's grandfather went to MSU and was going to go to Montana State if he did not get an athletic scholarship no matter what. He did not have an offer from Montana when he committed to MSU earlier this week. His story:

it'd be great if this was actually a story about a Griz recruit and yes, I'm a subscriber :( but not for much longer...

Germer follows father’s footsteps, commits to Griz

I've always found vims lists to display hard work and devotion to giving readers information about young talent. Of course you may not agree with them at all times, but in my experience vim is willing to listen if you give a good argument, and we have since agreed to share information and thoughts about scouting. And that's all you could ask for, someone who is willing to debate and listen about young talent in our great state.

Vims lists have always displayed hard work and dedication to informing the readers of the young talent of Montana. In my experience with Vim, we were able to debate and he was very willing to listen to different opinions of others. We may not see eye to eye with some things, but since then we have agreed to talk to each other about talent and film and what we are seeing. Some may not agree with his evaluations, and that is completely okay, but what makes better is Vim is willing to debate and talk about it. And that is all anyone can ask for, people who are willing to debate the great talent of our great state!

My mistake, but I think I made my point clear. Vim works hard, if you don't agree with him then that's nothing new, but you have to respect the hard work

Taken from NFL Network:

THE IMPERFECT SCIENCE OF SCOUTING PLAYERS

If the (paid) scouts themselves are to be believed, they are the only human beings who are allowed to weigh-in on who's good at football and who's bad. Their fancy lingo, that's how they throw us off you see. They talk "hip-flexation" and this type of thing, and that's how they try to throw the rest of the world off. But not Egrizzers. We're onto those guys. How many whiffs do the scouts get? Let's count the ways? Tony Romo, everybody was just talking about him a week or two ago as a borderline 'Hall of Famer'. He was undrafted. 'Hall of Famer' Kurt Warner was undrafted. Who's the best QB of all-time? (Tom Brady) He was drafted in the sixth round. Dak Prescott, how late did he go last year? By the way, there is also Jamarcus Russell on the other side. What gives scouts?

Scouting is a flawed process. Why? Because it's humans evaluating humans. Both sides are flawed, so let's start there. 10 year study, scouting success rate in the NFL: 30% become starters, 70% do not become starters over a 4 year period. (1st round 75%, 50% 2nd round, 33% 3rd round, 25% 4th round, 20% 5th round, 9% 6 round, 9% 7th round become starters.)

SCOUTING IS AN INEXACT SCIENCE: Anybody that says they're an expert, can be shown they've made plenty of mistakes. It's an educated guess, that's all it is. So scout on!

Quick is a great player no doubt, and I took your word and dove deeper into his film. He has grown on me a little, as of now I have him just outside the 10 though, an 11 or 12 spot.

He will likely be a Griz if he doesn't get a FBS offer from a Pac-12 school like UW or Wazzu.

I agree with this but one of his good buds did just commit MSU in LB Nolan Askelson so that may help.
