Don't you mean, "millennials are busy picking up the tab for baby boomers who have set this country back so far in debt they'll never get out"?

...great point but enough blame to go around but it is the dirty politicians we voted for..plenty to discuss but enough sad!

Some of us (like the millennials) have been voting for these shit bags for a lot less time. Blaming millennials for problems nowadays is naive and ignorant at best. We're working our asses off but we don't accumulate wealth due to a number of things.

What things?

Buried in student loan debt, buried in cost of living expenses, moving to areas with higher job prospects rather than being out in the sticks were many of us grew up. There's a hundred reasons. Despite being the good retirement saver that I am (with good company benefits and matching), I have many doubts if I'll ever get to retire.

Millennials are ruining everything, not just our beloved FB. FFS, a 90yro ex-president can’t even tell a dirty joke

Agreed. You old coots are the damn problem, guess what you ignorant old bastards- YOU STARTED THE PARTICIPATION TROPHY CRAP!!!

Your generation has voted for corrupt politicians hell bent on making the US the world police, keeping this country in a constant state of war since the mid 90's.

Housing prices and college tuition has SKYROCKETED, all the while the value of our dollar has plummeted. I consider myself lucky that my savings account pays 1.25% (close to 3% per year short of BASIC INFLATION).

Kind of hard to afford going to a football game when paying $500+ monthly in student loans (I don't have any thankfully, was smart enough to go right to work and actually have a decent paying job) and fuel costs over $3 per gallon...idiots

So what's with the pissed off rant then? Jayzus

I make "ok" $ for someone under 30 years old because I've worked my ass off....nowhere near enough to buy a house, I drive a '99 4Runner, don't eat out etc. I am not comfortable by any means.

The rant is because I have empathy for other human beings, something that most of the older generation doesn't seem to have.

And no, I didn't vote for Hilary. I am a libertarian, both dems and repubs are crooked lying thieving scumbags for the most part.

..when government and politicians gets out of control and start sucking up the wealth of the country
for self-gratification of votes there will be less opportunities for the younger generations..goverment doesn't produce anything so it does not create wealth..socialism is not the answer..vote these scrumbags out and put truthful people in government that won't drink the kool-aide of Washington establishment! ..its our only hope!

Problem is you are all like everyone else before you. You think you have everything figured and know all the answers. Unfortunately, so did we. We you get in your thirties you will understand you didn't know squat in your twenties. When you get to your fourtys you will realize how stupid you were in your twenties. It goes on and on then you die. You are not special and don't have any special insight that anyone else hasn't experienced.

Also, FTC and lets get stitthead out!

Unfortunately some of the idiots in my "generation" think that socialism (I HIGHLY doubt that most of them even know what true socialism entails) is the answer. It hasn't worked before, isn't currently working, never will work!

Welcome to life Brad. Took me twenty years to pay mine off. No we didn't have as high of costs but then we didn't make as much either. Where you live and what you choose to do is up to the individual. The high paying jobs have always been in the cities. I know I will never fully retire. So, nothing new or unusual. Choice I made about quality of life I wanted over material accumulation.

lol.. my life's mostly fine, and I do pretty well for someone my age, so I'm not complaining too much. I have a lot of fun in my life, more than most. ;) I don't accumulate a lot of material possessions due to the fun having in my life. I just hate the constant narratives that "oh, this isn't right, must be a millennial problem." Uhh, no, there are several things in play here. Generally, most of us pull ourselves up by the boot straps and don't eat avocado toast. It's a lazy blame game narrative.

I love the millennial v. baby boomer argument. People lump individuals into these stereotypes based on age or occupation and it's ridiculous.

I consider myself a millennial.

I don't favor "communism" but I am very much in favor of more socialized systems such as secondary education or healthcare. This thought process is EXTREMELY common in my age group. The argument of "you just want things for free!" is bullshit. The same person who says that goes and picks up their Social Security check every month. Also socialized education has proven to be much more successful in other countries in many aspects including quality of education.

and no I am not just begging for hand outs. I do quite well for myself financially.

I don't disagree with much of what you said. Socialized education in several of the countries I taught in involves a fairly ridged track system (either professional or service) starting in some countries around 4th grade. Once in a track a person can move to the other track but it is not an easy transition (easier to move from Professional to Service than the other way around.) With that it is not equal education for all which is not all bad. The health care while I was there was just ok. For routine things it was good, for more serious issue many of my friends did indeed come to the United States. (Spent fifteen years over seas)

Preach it, brother!

Video killed the basketball star. Who needs to go to the gym when you can watch five games at once on your mobile devices?

This is the really frustrating for me now. I am an extremely busy person and seeing a doctor for just a routine check up is basically impossible.

I hear you. Care for routine was good but there was still a wait to get in similar to some of the issues we see with the VA here today.

Two words: Stitt’s fault.

Ps. I know many folks who left the “sticks” because as the term was coined in my day, “you can’t eat the scenery.” That was the case long before dirt bags like me started populating the country with Millennials.

You missed one important point there. Social security isn't free (nor is medicare) its paid for (and then some) by the folks drawing it. The average worker pays $722,000 into Social Security and Medicare and can be expected to take out $966,000 in benefits. Had they put the same amount into regular investments their yield would be roughly double. The assets in the Social Security trust fund are invested in Treasury bonds, notes and bills. while safe have pretty low yield. Interestingly 1.5 TRILLION of that trust fund is a contingent liability having been used as "student loans" to pay for millinnials college education (most who never graduated and 12% who default...........

I sure hope so. With the costs of healthcare for my wife and I, plus the additional cost of trying to get pregnant, just adds up to enormous amounts of $.

Rant over, time to go shoot some ducks and thank the Lord I'm still able to pursue happiness as I see fit.

Sidetracked posters here seem to have missed the concluding statement of the article:

"It’s not a particular generation of people that’s killing college football attendance. It’s technology, and there’s no going back."
