Some of the team problems we are beginning to hear sound like Little Guy Football.
Sorry, but leadership has to start and be constant with the Head Coach. Schism? Really?

Let's just get right to it The Kats were lucky to get two league wins their last two games last year.. They sneaked by Montana by 7 points their last game of the year and the euphoria was like winning a National Championship.. They will not get that lucky in 2017 The Kats have no running game and no passing game so basically no offense and a mediocre defense... They are relying on a teenage kid to provide enough points to out score their opponents all year ... This kid will be lucky to get 10 games in and will never see #11, the "BRAWL" Your excuse is already in the hopper Kat fans ... Remember when the Grizzlies beat the Kats by 30 in 2014 but it didn't count #Prukop was hurt using this same offense.. Dejavu my friends!!! The Kats play an eleven game schedule and they will get but four wins if they only have but one loss at home?? Kats must play injury free especially at QB and pray like hell as they will start 0-4 and never recover!!! Kats will split with Weber State and Portland State so pick your poison??

The coaching staff didn't have them properly prepared mentally. The team was disjointed and dysfunctional due to a head coach who is offense only. There were two teams on the field posing as one team.

... I've spoken to some folks inside the organization....there was definitely a schism on that team...driven mostly by the "non-Stitt" guys who were losing playing time and not supportive of the team effort.....

It may have started before the UNC game. The first 6 games, the Griz were 5-1. The last 5 games, the Griz were 1-4. Let's hope the Griz don't have the Cats' collapse, again, in the last part of the season.

We heard very similar things about the disjointed and dysfunctional aspects of the team following the season before last - players not buying in and offense versus defense. Didn't they churn nearly 30-40 guys from the roster early on, and send the D-coordinator on his way? You'd think that would have fixed it...

It really needs to be fixed, or it will be a long season...and we'll probably be introducing a new HC and staff afterward.

To clear up a few things:

* Yes, it started before UNC. In fact, I was told it started on the plane back home form NAU. BG showed absolutely NO concern for the loss....that didn't sit well with some of the players. Now, should it have been nipped in the bud? Absolutely, and for this Stitt should be (and is being) held accountable.
* They did churn 30-40 guys...but not everybody. This isn't all that uncommon in a coaching change. It's why lots of players follow their coach or leave...this isn't a "Montana" problem or "Stitt" problem. If I told you some of the other players who were considered "trouble" or developed into less-than-team players, you'd be shocked.
* The person I talked to said Haslam/Stitt and the rest of the coaches are focused on this, on teamwork, on camaraderie, on leadership, etc., etc., this offseason. It's been one of the primary focuses, and it's why Stitt and Semore were letting guys run practice to see who stepped up as team leaders.

There had to be something after the NAU loss, and this could be it. It's as if someone flicked a switch. OTOH, what happened between the Sac State win & NAU loss, or was the NAU loss expected/acceptable, whatever? I don't think the Griz ever suffered a meltdown like this one.

I think the cat fans are a little overly confident in this coming season. A lot of them think they're gonna go 9-2 or 8-3 and have a deep playoff run. There's even a lot of them that think they're gonna beat SDSU and keep it competitive with WSU. Kudos to them for having confidence in their team but realistically they're not gonna make the playoffs and they'll be lucky to even finish 5-6. It's actually 14 total and only 2 did not graduate this spring. Some of them weren't listed or had already graduated. Now go ahead and do the same for the 16 Griz seniors.

Pretty sure Daly is still on the team. Cripes his picture is in the banner above today's roster, although he/his jersey number is not on the roster.
