This assumption that Kent should have had a vetted & prioritized listing of replacement coaches for the “just in case” contingency, that he could pull the trigger on in days, is such crap. Why would he? Nobody was going to swoop in and snatch up Bob & Co. @ this stage, and I don’t believe he’d allowed for serious consideration of non-renewal until the Sunday after the last game. There are ten or more FCS jobs open right now & I would bet their AD’s are doing their best to follow a logical process to arrive @ a head coach/staff replacement, just like Haslam.

P5 AD’s likely do have such contingency listings knowing that if things go sideways, they are able to act now to get their replacement guy in before someone else gets him. Things can and do go sideways pretty dam quickly there, because it’s usually a larger pool of “substantial donors” in their ears when it does.

Not sure if Mike Lynch from Syracuse is really a candidate or not, I know his name has been out there. It's interesting that he and Choate coached together at both Utah State and Eastern Illinois 2002-2005.
