Quick question. How many of you millenials know what a steelie is? I think it's actually spelled "steely", but like others on the board, I've become "that guy."

WTF would I know, I can't even spell Matte.

http://dare.wisc.edu/survey-results/1965-1970/childrens-games/ee6a

and the badassed of them could be found in rail service yards.

So let me get this straigh...it was a think to go out and look for these special marbles that would be left around service yards from the guys many years back playing marbles on their breaks at work?

Nope. Steely's were available there because of the need for replacement bearings on just about anything that turned on a spindle or axle. I am still racking my brain as to how you find ball bearings @ a baseball field. Must have been a real rough group of parents.

Does this help?

Wow... talk about traveling back in time! I'm not a Millennial, but close. Back in the late 80's we used to scavenge the baseball fields in Boulder in search of steely's , I had a collection of them. The one's we found were just slightly smaller than tennis balls, pitted and rusty... I probably would have never pulled that memory up again in my like if it wasn't for this post! :thumb:

Explains a lot of your later life choices. :thumb:
Hahaha!

I believe the ones buried in Boulder were shipped over from Hanford right after the war. Explains a whole lot. :coffee:

"Ahh, but the strawberries that's... that's where I had them. They laughed at me and made jokes but I proved beyond the shadow of a doubt and with... geometric logic... that a duplicate key to the wardroom icebox DID exist, and I'd have produced that key if they hadn't of pulled the Caine out of action. I, I, I know now they were only trying to protect some fellow officers..."

This of course is not the only Navy man concerned with marbles . . .

There was an incident at the construction site for the champions center on Thursday. I was hiking the M and I saw police and campus security interviewing members of the construction crew. Anyone know what it was all about?

I really hope they aren't jamming lockers into those tight areas.

Actually those are kiosk spaces for the MoClub, Town Pump, M-Store, etc. I don't think they're as tight as the picture angle might indicate. Not sure how many college locker rooms you've been in, but they tended previously to be afterthoughts with the leftover space the architect had. This is pretty dam roomy & plush by comparison to what I've seen.

Any truth to the rumor that the Ole's kiosk will feature limitless chili dogs?

Thanks. I actually have never been in a college locker room, so I would have no clue. Glad to hear my worries should not be worries.

500 words, contrast & compare. Punctuation, grammar & spelling count.

Yeah... I know, there really isn't anything to contrast or compare.

Our locker rooms and facility in general will be nicer.

Like they mentioned, NDSU is basically out of room for any more expansions. The champions center is much more than just locker room, its a world class training facility.

I dont know if theres really much to compare.

Their trophy case looks better tho..lol

Ahaha! That's some funny shit right there. Knowing a lot of these dudes, I can just picture a couple of dirty, grouchy railroaders heading out to the yard for their break, and instead of smoking cigarettes, just whipping out some marbles and really having a go. Old timers too..."Say Ed, no rollsies or bouncies this time, you got that chief?" Lmao!!!

Anyone see the world news this AM and the upgrade Texas did in Horns locker room. 43" flat screens above each locker to play player highlights. They said each locker was 10k EACH!

I have some good pictures of Beavs locker rooms and Valley football center just not sure how to attach them to posts.

I hiked the M that day, and I didn't see anything. All construction had stopped. Also, I noticed they left the fence gate by the construction open and walked around the stadium. Not a soul was there.
