Anyway, here it is. Zac had an offer. Was told it was good but would be silent and delayed. Other schools continued to recruit him even after the Venmo. Zac stuck with UM. Signing day happened. The Kaimen article appeared months later. A small group approached the coach and said him or them. The coaches asked if they would meet him or mentor him. THEY DECLINED. OFFER GONE. Other schools don't have scholarships right now.

Coaches don't have a spine. BH needs to explain this one. These uppity players should have been told to hit the road, get the f*** out! Zac gets screwed. He stuck with the Griz, and they stuck him. I hope the Crews family sues UM. Oh, well, one less fan won't be noticed. Needless to say, but donations NOT! But I'm not Dennis Washington either, so PHTTTTT! Hey, UM, this ones for you. :finger:

It’s just another case of “You’re wrong! I don’t know what’s right but I know you’re wrong!”

Astute said this: "A few teammates said absolutely not, and refused to meet or talk with him. So in May the choice put out was him or them, which is unfortunate because I'm willing to bet that if these few took 5 minutes with the kid, they'd see he isn't to be defined by that Venmo comment." Why isn't that the explanation?

Also, it is perfectly possible to know someone's explanation is wrong, without knowing exactly what occurred,.

Also, it is perfectly possible that both answers are partially right. Of course I have no idea but both sound like they could be logical explanations.

So for arguments sake, say it’s 5-6 kids who didn’t want him but happen to be some of the most prominent athletes on the team. You’d be ok with Bobby telling them he’s choosing one unproven high school athlete over them?

Uppity.....interesting choice of words given the context of this thread.

Yep. If UM doesn't boot several current players (of unknown contribution levels) in favor of getting a kid who has never played a down in college and has posted disgusting things on venmo, I will be forced to withdraw all support for UM Athletics and UM as a whole. This team should be run MY way. I have earned it.

You won’t be missed. :thumb:

First, the gauntlet has been thrown: No way this gets to 17 pages.

Second, I understand that kids make mistakes and you want the kid make good on learning from those mistakes. In Zac Crew's case, regardless of the circumstances that let to his outing on social media and the resultant discipline, he won't be doing the growing in Missoula. I do believe he'll be given an opportunity whether it be in another FCS program, or at the JC/NAIA level, he'll get one. If Bozeman wants to extend a hand and pull him out the muck as it were, more power to them.

Third, roster decisions are Bobby's domain. I know enough about Bobby and seen enough in the past that he isn't about to upset roster chemistry especially when this year portends to be a really big year for the program. Was the purging of Crews political? Maybe, but was it the right thing for the health of the program and the locker room? Entirely and if that was the calculus who would really fault the program for going in that direction.

You can complain all you want about the rug being pulled out under Crews here, but I feel pretty confident saying that this was made clear that everything had to play out and if it did during he'd have a roster spot come fall camp. Zac could have done everything as asked, the program had every intention to make good on their end of the bargain. The dynamic changed and here we are.

Spot on as always.

Let me summarize:

EG said he heard there were conditions set to join and they were not met.

Astute said no. Instead, a few players said its him or us. So, no conditions set to meet.

Pretty much everyone shitting on a kid who did something stupid...like all kids do.

So astute has no more knowledge than anyone else? He has all the answers? So you tell us all what DID happen, soldier. Why did it take till May for a decision? Did Crews meet with some/any players? If no conditions were imposed, why did that happen? If some players were uncomfortable with Crews on the team, did they make the decision not to have him or did Hauck?

Very curious to get all the answers from those of you who claim to know exactly what happened (hint: you don't).

You don't know what I know.

But, in this case you are correct...I have no clue what happened. I was just trying to summarize, and maybe did so poorly.

Certainly wasn't taking sides...whole thing sucks.

I guess I’m missing something. If the players had to accept him before he could join, what would that be called? A requirement? A term? Say you’re signing up for an Apple ID, you have to accept the terms and…what’s the word I’m looking for? Terms and avocados! Nailed it.

Who knows?

Nope. I guarantee this is not true. All the coaches and majority or the team supported him coming on. A few teammates said absolutely not, and refused to meet or talk with him. So in May the choice put out was him or them, which is unfortunate because I'm willing to bet that if these few took 5 minutes with the kid, they'd see he isn't to be defined by that Venmo comment. That said, difficult situation for both sides and I see both sides point.

UM's miss will be another's gain. Maybe even the Cats, so their fanbase should retract their claws a bit. As should we.

Finally, an explanation that makes sense, and it looks like you know what you are talking about. Thx, astute.

Technically we’re at 22+ pages since this is essentially a continuation of an existing locked thread….and yes, we’re still discussing the exact same issues that were discussed in extreme the 1st time around.

From a starter after I sent him astute's post and asked if he new anything. "I’m not sure, you seem to know more than I do about the situation. Hopefully it all works out for him."

If in fact it was a small group of individuals that felt it their right to judge the kid let's hope for their sake they don't find the shoe on the other foot someday. Given the length of a lifetime and karma what are the odds of that?

it seems more reasonable it was a decision that was made in Main Hall not the locker room.

Amen. It’s a shame really what has happened to Zac. He made a bad joke. The hypocrisy is so thick you could cut it with a knife. I wish the woke crowd would pull their lip over their mouths and swallow. The kid needs a second chance and then you can find out if he really is “racist” or not. If only a recorder could be around the locker room when kids are joking. Why are black kids able to joke about the word or use the word? I’m glad I’m not playing anymore, because we all have dirty laundry.

Zac is not a racist, and is a victim of the cancel culture. To bad the back stabbing kid that is a walk on from Hellgate found it acceptable to screen shot a two year old Venmo post to a buddy that was assumed to be private. What does that say about him to shit on a future team mate to hurt him?

In graduation news, Zac graduated with a 4.0. Very doubtful that many egriz posters did the same.

I dont know BH. But does this sound like him? A few players say we don't want him on the team but coaches and most of the team are okay with it but because a few players say it's him or me, the offer is taken away? I have a hard time with that. I have an easier time believing Everett.

Man, I don't agree. It's clear you never played the game. And I know BH well.

Whoa. I've played plenty of football. Me and my neighbor growing up would take on anyone in front yard football.
