I don't think GGNez or anyone who has agreed with her is challenging anyone's right to disagree with anyone else. I also don't think she's advocating a "live and let live" philosophy that tries to negate the importance of mature, civil dialogue over issues we disagree on. I think her post is challenging those who choose personal attacks and divisiveness as a response to those whom they disagree with. And GGNez is suggesting - and I agree with her - that those types of responses are counterproductive to the culture of respect that the University and its Athletic Department are trying to cultivate. She's challenging us to be part of the solution rather than part of the problem.

Same thing could be said of and to Davies.

But it won't. Not in the current cultural climate in which we live. :roll:

You're absolutely right. So why sink to her level? Be better.

I haven't and I won't (at least I don't think I have). But it chaps my ass to see the massive double standard still firmly in place, where one party gets invited to the press conference with apologies all around, while the other party gets flamesprayed, called out on the carpet and threatened with banishment. He called her fat and published her address. She called BH a purveyor of the "rape culture" in a post filled with lies and half-truths.

Both Ms. Davies and AlphaGriz were way out of line. But the impression that AlphaGriz's actions were slightly less douchey than Ms. Davies' doesn't mean that he's not a douchebag. The goal here shouldn't be to settle for being a 9.5 on the a-hole scale when someone else is a 10 just so you can say "Hey, at least I'm not as big of an a-hole as they are!"

I wish Alpha would have just put his MB post on her twitter feed ( the one with facts ) it was very well written and researched and would have not made him look so bad. What he did do was just poor gas on a fire. His post could have led to alot of good discussion not a flame war.

Although he approached it all wrong I have an extremely hard time believing that if he had posted the results of his research on Daveys page that it would have led to "a lot of good discussion."

People are angry and hateful. On both sides. They're not going to join hands and sing Kumbaya.

Of course I can see the difference. Once again, I'll say I don't condone Lisa Davies actions. And for clarity's sake I suppose I need to add that I don't think she deserves to be given a pass on this - and I haven't indicated that at all. But neither of these things are the point I've been arguing, either. The point I've been arguing is that getting angry at her, calling her names, and publicly ridiculing and discrediting her isn't going to suddenly (or even eventually) turn the tide of public opinion in our favor. Surely even you can understand that?

I believe Lisa Davey was in attendance at the introductory press conference...any word of a 1on1 meeting between her and Hauck? Or was it just a general show of support from the AD?

I was told that Davey and Hauck talked. I also talked to her.

The athletic dept and UM are upset with what Alpha did. His going too far drew the Missoulian article and made things worse. I think Alpha's BS has made it harder for others to try to address and refute what she said and perhaps is still saying. Initially, I had considered going through her petition and Sample's Q&A, and putting together a response. Now, I am not going to do that, because I don't want be associated for Alpha and what he has done. Alpha's attack and the article has drawn more attention to the petition and its assertions, and probably has inadvertently given her and them more credibility.

Davey's stuff is long on assertions and weak on facts or support. It's largely opinion, myth and agenda.

I wish somebody would do this. When Skyline did the Q&A with her before everything blew up, I don't remember her being challenged on the factuality of the statements she made in the petition.

In the end, I don't blame you for not wanting to have your named associated with the situation.

Although I like Skyline and am a subscriber to their website, I think their interview with her was very fluff and didn't try to get the truth out.

It could be argued that this is the same as what alpha did. Not saying it is, but it is anti-male an you think it’s funny. Again, I think it’s fucking hilarious, but change the words and ask our new friend on Twitter to make a sandwich then say your not anti-woman you just think it’s funny. The double standard is sickening.
