Your FTC Quote of the Day, Thursday

This one goes back to 2007 again. A quote I'd not heard until recently. When addressing the team the week leading up to the game Bobby Hauck asked this of his guys:

Please, Please, Please give me a chance to run the score up on them. I swear to God I will put 50 on them if you let me... Then I will smoke a cigar on the f***ing 50 yard line.

Well he fell 9 points short of that request, but I'll bet he was still feeling pretty good after that game regardless.

Just another reason Bobby was an awesome coach. God I wish we still had him. He had that killer instinct.

If the Griz get rolling early in this one, anybody think MD puts the 2s and 3s in so that he doesn't run it up?
I'm scared he will do that so the scats are able to hang around.

I'm hoping the Griz get rolling but quite frankly I don't see that happening. I think it's going to come down to the team that plays the best in the 4th quarter.

This quote is 100% accurate. If you remember correctly, Bobby just had another son in November or October of that year and gave cigars to any member of the team that wanted them the day after he was born. A few players kept the cigars knowing the cat game was around the corner. Then by chance Bobby made that quote to us in the team room. The players that kept the cigars brought them to the game and put them on the sideline hoping we would put 50 on them. If you look back at the footage you can see some players celebrating the victory with cigars in their mouths.

I'm pretty sure this was the game that booby did have a cigar in his mouth after the game; or am i thinking of another game? seems like one of our DTs gave it to him immediately when the gun sounded.

I miss Bobby Hauck, even more so come GRIZ/Cat week. No coach will ever hate the Cats as much as Bobby. I do think Chase Reynolds and Colt Anderson can do it, if they ever pursue coaching.

Mick Dennehey hates the cats just as much as BH does

I remember a story BH was telling on the Friday before the big game-I think in PRs box right after the final no pads practice. The story as I recall-His wife had been in the hospital and he was reflecting about what was really important in life, referring to family and his wife etc. and then stops and states: "What is really important in life is kicking Fn bobcats ass". I too miss BH.

The older we get, the better Bobby was, apparently.
More like, the older we get the better other coaches make him look. But you have to admit there will never be another coach that took beating state as he called them more personal.

They need to bring Hauck back just to give the pre-game speech, love his FTC attitude! He doesn't have a game to coach this weekend. :thumb:

Bobby has three girls and one boy. And Rob is much older than 6-7 years old. I'm assuming you just meant after he had his last girl. ;)
