But now's our time to hopefully get back on the bandwagon. As much as I utterly hated the fact that we decided to go with Delaney as HC last year, I actually have some faith in the Guy this year.
I have zero faith in Delaney as head coach. If it turns out to be a good season it will be in spite of him, not because of him.
Exactly correct...

We could be good or we could be bad? Looks like we have a chance of being good. It depends on the coaches. If they came out of winter conditioning in good shape we will have a great year.

Speaking of shape, poor old Delaney should wear baggy clothes and keep his shape covered1

Meanwhile sneaking peeks back at the practice field.........

re: Delaney, I believe he has to coach what he knows, that simple...Lombardi said any offense works, it is who ever blocks and tackles the best, that win games...

I'm really going to miss the shotgun on 3rd and long from our own 2 yardline when we try to fool em with the draw.

I hope Delaney lets Hynson and Gragg worry about the offense so he can focus on things like coin flips.

And headphone nobs...

so many fucking nob adjustments...

The second he was hired I knew this old bastard was going to try and take us backwards.
I'm with you stubs. Shotgun, like under-center, has its time an place. Doing one exclusively over the other seems to limit your options. but what i'm hearing sounds more like a return to bobbyball and that would be a bigger set-back than all the investigations combined.
I am not as optimistic as most re our upcoming offense. Our redzone offense sucked donkey balls last year. This year we will have co-OCs. I can envision Hynson calling passing plays in the middle of the field and then Gragg wanting to run the ball once we get in the redzone. The way its set up, it's begging for a return to bobbyball. [What happened to the puking smilie?]

I'd say Gragg's understanding of the pro style offense, having played in it for a decade, is nothing like Rob Phenecie's understanding of "bobby ball." If the offenses are the same something is very very wrong.

Isn't Alabama the most dominant team in College Football these days, and look at their offense. I am all for a multiple offense!

Plugrad bit the pillow his first year at UM, as did Delaney.

Plugrad got it together his 2nd year, as will Delaney.

Pflu didn't bite the pillow his first year, he was changing a system to something that would dominate all. I can't believe he did it one year.

Big difference between that, and delaneys mistakes. And now he's taking us backwards. Delaney will continue to "bite the pillow" until he hangs em up.

+1

Mind boggling that some people try to make this comparison!

Timjayko, you mean the Griz would have won it all like the time they did with Dave Dickenson in the shotgun almost exclusively???

Those were the mid 90's times have changed, defense is much bigger and better, can't get away with that any more unless you're super fast, oh yeah and Dave Dickenson was only the greatest QB ever to play the game for our program, so we could definitely get away with that.

Basically, what I'm trying to say here is that I'm happy we are changing our offensive scheme, because with the athletes we have it was just foolish to run. WE are not Oregon, we are Montana! We need to find an offense that fits us.

Take a look at North Dakota State, back to back Championships at the FCS level, look at their offensive scheme. They didn't win back to back Championships with shotgun-only offense, and neither would we.
NDSU won almost soley based on their dominating defense.

As long as they have an offense that chews up clock and doesn't turn it over, they're going to win a ton of games.

Oh, and only 6 years ago App State was dominating using the shotgun almost exclusively with similar athletes that we have now, and won three titles in a row.

They likely wouldn't have won a single one with an offense like you're pitching. :coffee:

When they need a yard in Fargo, it sure the heck isn't out of the shotgun. Yuck They bring in 2 TEs, and 2 FBs and ask you to stop it. Got to love the power running game, and the 2 FB Power I. I've seen a little bit of that with Packers too when they had Koehn and Hall in the Power I in past years. Love those 245 Lbs FBs leading the way.

Up till present, perhaps Dave has been the greatest QB to play for the Griz, however I am still hoping that a better one arrives.
