Alright, this thread has gotten just a tad out of control. At no time did I say JJ was going to transfer, just that I heard he wasn't exactly thrilled with the offensive changes. While I absolutely hate the idea of scrapping Robin's offense (which was dominating in Season 2, could you imagine what Season 3 w/ Robin and JJ would have looked like?), I really don't think it's a far cry to say this coaching staff didn't exactly look comfortable with what they were doing last year. I really don't care what the offense is as long as it tailored to take advantage of JJ's talents.

Really? that is what you think? in season 2 your offense was above average and that is about all that could be said about it, the defense was a different story in 2011 but the offense was nothing to write home about.

I just don't see why the revisionist history is so important to you fizz fans,
2 seasons above average......scat fans are experts when it comes to being average.

Well in the Conf only stats (a fair measure of comparison) um was 4th in total O, 2nd in scoring O and 5th in pass efficency, If you want to call that DOMINATING then keep drinking the kool-aid

I don't know how this thread changed into discussing the second year offense of RP, but is interesting that cat fans just use the regular season in looking at stats. Although they are not used to being in the playoffs regularly so I guess it does make sense.

...Is that Delaney has completely scrapped Pflu's read-option offense for a more Hauck-like power-based attack. In addition, supposedly when JJ picked up his playbook this week, he was not happy, to say the least. Do with this information what you will. I am in no position to call out the people that would back me up on this, but suffice to say it I have absolutely zero reason to doubt it. Go ahead and flame me if you want, I really don't care, just trying to bring some legit info to the board. IF this is the case, this would be a blunder of epic proportions by Delaney. You get JJ back only to run an offense that mitigates his greatest strengths??? I seriously hope I am wrong...

P.S. In addition, supposedly Delaney is enamored with Gustafson, maybe this explains the transition...
I have heard the same rumor regarding JJ's unhappiness with the playbook. I also heard from a good source--a friend of Phlu's--that Robin met in Missoula late this week with Jordan and his family about his possible transfer to Weber. Phlu told them he would carry the paperwork for a waiver from the NCAA. This from a close friend of Robin.

Additional rumors: Guffey, Murphy, and Christie Anderson have all been asked to resign/retire. Guff has employed a lawyer claiming age discrimination.

I asked Pflu on Friday afternoon if he had talked to JJ since the trial, and he said he had not.

Dumb a$$, I never said they were dominating. Just pointing out that you are by far the expert when discussing being average.

Yeah, cuz the Griz offense in August to October was the same as the one in November and December.

At the end of that year, we had one of the top offenses in the country. Better than anyone else in the Big Sky. :coffee:

be easy on that rubber lipped woodpecker, 2506's whole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.
He / She fills a much-needed gap.

I did it for your advantage, while your scoring offense went up a couple of points due to the DII game where you ran up the score, your total offense and passing eff. both went down to 5th in the BSC when ALL game are included.

The fact is that in Pflus 2nd season a strong senior heavy defense carried the team, probably farther than expected but the offense was bipolar at best, sure they had a couple of good games, but they sucked in some games too, (average at best).

Now because you have that QB returning some of you tools want to rewrite history and make that one of the more productive offenses in fizz history, well you know what? it isn't true, you can drink the poison all you want but you don't have that type of defense to save JJ in 2013.

Now that all being said, if booger is in fact changing the offense (the original topic) it just might be the smartest coaching decision that he has made. I was hoping that he would stick with the gimmicky offense that was dependent on a few key players. Go back to 2011 and compare the games where JJ was hurt and when he was healthy. If JJ goes down (and 2011 shows that he is somewhat fragile) who is gonna run the offense, hint: 2012 shows that you dont have anybody else.

This thread was obviously started as an anti-Delaney agenda, and that's fine. Everyone is entitled to their opinion on the current coaching staff. What astonishes me is, people actually post anti-coaching threads on Egriz with the delusion that their words and the words of the responses can somehow make a difference. Since 2004, I'm guessing there has been over 5,000 threads started on Egriz with some form of anti-coach or fire-the-coach theme and not ONE has led to a dismissal yet.

Pretty much.

Of course there are Griz fans that believe shit like this because it fits the narrative they've constructed in their heads.

>Engstrom hates Griz football
>Delaney is a puppet dumbass coach who can't do anything right
>Conspiracy involving everyone to make sure UM football and Jordan Johnson fail
>?????????
>Profit

Makes SO MUCH SENSE!!!

I gotta say, though, the whole "Delaney is in bed with Engstrom to sabotage and destroy Grizzly Football" fantasy being woven on this site is rather entertaining.

I full can see Engstrom instructing Delany to change his play book to keep JJ off the field. It's sad to say, but hey Engstron is the same guy who decided not to renew O'Days and Robins contracts. No I did not fire them, UM is going in a different direction. Looks like Engstrom is doing the same thing to JJ, new direction, new play book.
Do you really think RE knows what a play book is?

Good to see egriz get back to normal so quickly.

Except that in the reading through of this Thread that whenever the acronym "RP" showed up I was reading it as Rob Phenicie instead of Robin Pflugrad and I was developing nightmares all over again!!! Will you guys stop doing that to me...P-L-E-A-S-E.

Can someone PLEASE remind me what that "average" offense did in the 2011 Cat/Griz football game? My memory is slipping.. might be the alcohol, might be the ill-effects of AlphaGriz1 pushing down an escalator..

You mean, making the cat defense look absolutely silly, or are you looking for something a little more specific than that?

Also, one of those teams in that picture went to the FCS semi-finals.. one of those teams has not been to the FCS semifinals for a very long time. Can someone tell me who is who?
