No I didnt. I thought both Chalich and Prater did. And though Will had a partial. Guess not. Either way. There's plenty of crappy qbs on the roster that could of been cut before Willy. And who is to say any of these 3 or how many ever qbs coming in are going to be any better? Willy was a talent you can't deny it. Stitt obviously has no idea what he's looking for in a Qb. A good offense will recruit a Qb that fits the mold. Stitt recruits any Qb(pro, spread, whatever). You got to have a Qb that fits in. Not just bring in qbs and hope they just get it. But I'm done. I'm just not happy about the Willy cut. I'd taken a younger unproven Qb over a Qb who has played and proven to be inconsistent and constantly throws ints left and right.

Stitt has really only recruited in Gresch Jensen and Reese Phillips as QB's that fit his style of offense: accurate and smart with the threat to run. As a Cat fan, I don't really know why I'm defending Stitt but the guy definitely has been consistent in who he has recruited at the QB position over the past year.

Chalich was on his way prior to Stitt becoming head coach....

Edited. But still don't you agree with my point grizindabox?

Yes...Stitt took a lot of time working with Willy....from Spring through Fall....he eventually demoted him from scout team QB midway through the season for a kicker....take from that what you will....my take is Willy just wasn't cutting it...

I don't get this?? I remember when he signed you guys had a thread about it and made it sound like you really just got a hell of a QB? How the hell does he get cut? Or maybe I'm thinking of someone else.

A ton of people were really excited about him....I am just one of the few that think the coaches who are around him constantly probably know more than the fans who dubbed him the next JJ based purely off his high school career.

I think the coaches probably know a little more than the casual egrizzer.

Is he a home grown Montana kid? Is that why so many were in love with him? So your saying Delaney doesn't know QB talent??

Delaney doesn't know how the coin flip works.

Thanks for the laugh!

It will be welcome a relief from the inaccurate, stupid quarterbacks we have been consistently recruiting since Don Read. I don't know why no coach ever thought to recruit accurate and smart quarterbacks.

Yeah it was a bit of a generalization but I guess what I'm trying to say is Stitt probably isn't a big fan of "gunslingers" at QB.

Willy gone is a major loss... Couldn't Stitt just cut someone like Will Weyer, Eric Prater, or Chad Chalich? All 3 of them are a waste of roster space.

Thats weird..the COACH who is around them more than anyone else soley for the purpose of analyzing their football ability and has everything to lose by making a poor decision....disagrees with you.

Jensen completed 122 of 209 passes (58%) for 1,558 yards with 15 touchdowns during the 2014 regular season and also ran for 585 yards and eight scores, with 14 interceptions his senior year, 39 total interceptions for his varsity career.
Willy: 185-of-259 passing (71.4 percent) for 2,636 yards with 29 TDs and 11 interceptions; 401 yards rushing with 6 TDs
Not the tallest kid he has shown he is capable of great vision and he also has learned from Elite 11 QB Coach and PSU great Matt James. James has the same frame as Pflug and the two train together often. In talks with Matt he has made no bones; Willy is the real deal. He will tear up defenses by reading his progressions and firing on target. When he has nothing open he runs. And that is something the kid does very well indeed. Just look at these Stats:

Season Stats: 185-259 71.4%, 29tds pass, 6tds run, 2436 yds pass, 401 yds rush, 2,837 total yds, 35 total tds Career Stats: 337-516 65.3%, 50tds pass, 6 tds run, 4780 yds pass, 401 yds run, 5181 total yds, 56 total tds 1st team All Metro League 2014 State of Oregon leader accuracy 72.9% 6A Leader TD passes (reg season) 27 Team MVP

That is no Joke- Coaches are looking at that 71.4%. And the kid does not throw very many interceptions. This is the guy you want in a dog fight too. His play making reminds me of the most talented guys you ever see- that sandlot style player who shows up, draws it out in the mud, and makes it all happen like magic.
Willy's first offer was a scholarship offer from EWU, but he liked UM better.

Only Montana actually "offered" to Jensen. "Jensen drew interest from Washington, Missouri, and Nebraska, but didn't have any offers going into the spring."

"Jensen .... was drawn in part to UM because his parents attended there and they have family in the vicinity."

How about a Qb that waits for the play to develop if not scrambles, is consistent, makes the correct reads, doesn't stare down his targets, and can also run a triple option when the pass isn't working?

Who knows? All I know is I haven't seen it in any of the qbs that played last year. Simis has potential. As I think Willy did too. The others are a lost cause. We will see how Reese does and the other qbs coming in but, not seeing it. Hopefully Reese steps up.

I think Russell Wilson and Alex Smith are already spoken for....

There's always more out there. Just got to coach them up.

Exactly. You guys are wasting your time with jcu. Look back at his posts and any threads. He has consistently been wrong on eveything. His opinions are not based in reality.

Umm.. Yeah... How do you think plays are made? Hopes and dreams? No it's with talented athletes who study tape constantly and do nothing but try to improve. It's all about recognition. There are plenty good qbs who can recognize if a plays going to develop or break. At that time they can decide whether to pass, scramble, throw the ball away, or take a hit and hold on to the fucking ball. Unless you have defenders coming through the o line before you can even look anywhere. Which is another problem we have but, Stitt has done good with getting some good o line verbals.
