Why you commit to a College

That is a good article; and they're right...players should not commit because of coaches. College coaches, position coaches, coordinators, and head coaches always change. Play at a school because you like the school, tradition and academics.

That’s good stuff right there and why our society is gonna be s**t in about 10-15-20 years down the road. For too long parents are trying to make it easier on their kids then they had it and they’re not preparing them for life.

My son (who’s now 23) used to piss and moan incessantly about how my wife and I parented. He’d say Shit like “none of my friends parents care about that” or “non of my friends parents care what time they come home” or “why can’t you just do it for me like my friends parents do for them” or “can you just call the coach/teacher/doctor FOR me?”

My response was always the same: “I feel sorry for your friends, as they are going to be woefully prepared when life kicks them in the ass. On the other hand, YOU will have a great head start on about 98% of your generation.” He’d been gone from home about 90 days when he sent me a text that said simply this:

“I get now what you meant. Thanks”.

Depends on what you plan to achieve as a college athlete. The coach in many instances, is critical to the decision, also the conference is important in the process.
