Why transfers chose Montana

Hmm, I have a feeling Otlewski will end up transferring.. Believes he is an FBS player and wants to get film... We will see what happens but, I don't think we keep him for more than 2 years.
All good in my book if he creates film that gets him back to fbs than he will have down fantastic things for us over the next 1-2 years and I will take it

Insightful comments as to why Ford, Otlewski, and Wilson V chose Montana. Go Griz!
Really an awesome article and puts in perspective even more how lucky we are to have such great football and facilities here in Missoula. Going to be routing hard for all this guys to succeed

This is such a strong point. If guys come here and purely "use us" to move up or get tape for the NFL as a senior, then they had to have given us a hell of a season and effort. I am so genuinely good with that. It means it worked out well for all parties involved.

I know some people I really like disagree with me on this, but kids should never had been held hostage to so many transfer rules. They made a choice as a high school senior. I changed Universities, and it is probably the best decision I ever made. No other college student is held as hostage to an institution as college athletes were 10 years or so ago.

"The other schools I was looking at, yeah, they're FBS but are they winning games, are they winning championships, are they going to championships? Are they getting new coaching staffs or is the head coach staying for a long time and dedicated to the team? I don’t want a coach that's only going to be there for another two years where I’ll be in the same situation I'm in again."
This is the coolest part to me. I like having stability and a coach who isn’t looking to move. Sure, young and up-n-coming coaches are great, for the short term, but does anyone think the Dawkins kid for example is going to stay at ISU long term? In fact, other than Barney, I can’t think of another BSC coach who is not looking to move.

"The fans have been wanting me since out of JUCO, but this is the first time the Montana staff has reached out to me and offered me," he said. "I was considering all my options. When you have 50 comments of people from Missoula telling you to come to a place, it’s hard to ignore that. I wanted to go to a place where I felt I was wanted on the field and off the field. This made the most sense here."

I have been saying it for a while. Old people don't realize how engaged online this young generation is. Keep it classy out there on Twitter and everywhere else, the recruits see it, and give them their flowers once we know we are recruiting them.

Oopsies, that should have said "older people," not "old people," but I can't edit it. I am also past the age of being cool, I am told my by child who explains things like Rizz to me.

"I would say a lot of stuff y'all have there is way better than the stuff they have at San Diego. Crazy difference in the weight room than San Diego State. San Diego State just got a brand new stadium, but we didn't pack the stadium like you guys. I've always wanted to play in front of a big crowd."
This article just confirms what I have been saying about the vast recruiting advantages that Montana has over every FCS program, and even some of the FBS programs. Facilities. Weight room. Game-day atmosphere. Dedicated national fan base. All of these allow the Grizzly coaches a huge recruiting advantage over other FCS programs. But, does this transfer to the field? It did for one magical season last year, but failed miserably in the four seasons prior.

If FCS teams like NDSU and SDSU can be dominant, there is absolutely no reason why Montana can not be as dominant, or even more dominant than they are. Which is EXACTLY why I rail on Bobby Hauck 2.0. If he can put 3-4 consecutive deep playoff runs together, I will grant him his due. But one great season out of five, and no apparent ability to solidify the most critical position on the team, the QB position, leaves many questions open for criticism.

6'1 is fine for a Center, but he needs to get to at least 295-300. 285 is severely undersized for any OL
Way too much emphasis on size, especially at the center position. The center position relies much more on quickness than the other O-line positions. Tyler Linderbaum, the All-American center from Iowa, played at 290 while in college. He is now listed at only 305 with the Ravens, but NFL teams are famous for enhancing weight on their rosters.

I'll take a very intelligent, smaller center, who has quick feet over a slower behemoth any day.

I still think it is hilarious how some of you think emulating anything done at San Diego State is what we should be doing. They were 4-8 last season, and finished the season ranked 114th out of 133 FBS teams.

Jason kelce also played at 280

Because it made us the no. 2 team in nation last year? And even you admit that the 3-3-5 D took us there.

A) I don’t believe you will, no matter what Bobby/The Griz accomplish
B) Yeah, and damn those senior QB’s for wanting to graduate and move on, using up all their eligibility.

UM has recently created and obtained the biggest reason these transfers are coming, and that’s that Griz appear to back as one of the top programs and have a chance to go deep in the playoffs or to Frisco. Hauck and UM didn’t have that strength when Hauck returned.

There is no better recruiting pitch than starting for a winner. Point blank. Period. Nobody wants to lift weights in a nice weight room, get dressed in a sick locker room, put on their jersey, and then go get embarrassed.

I like the transfers we are bringing in. I’m hoping the core Montana guys can integrate them and help bring them along culture wise. The coaching staff has so far shown a knack for finding guys that seem to fit in and contribute right away. Hope that trend continues! Im especially excited about the two defensive transfers from San Diego State, who have already played in this defensive system and are practically plug and play type players for that reason alone. Also, one of those was the scout team defensive player of the year, which speaks volumes about his work ethic!

I really think Kaho is going to be a beast this year for us. And the younger guy has me all kinds of hyped for next year. His tape made it seem like he has been perfect for our system since he was in high school.
