Man....the list goes on and on and on...and it started long before 2 years ago. You should just put down the fucking shovel.
The majority of starters at good fbs teams are now transfers.

FCS has been able to attract transfers for many decades. In recent years, FCS qb’s have been able to move up easier and FBS qb’s to move sideways easier.
That's exactly what I was trying to say in my long post earlier but you said it much more succinctly. 👍

I don't disagree with the majority of that. My point is simply that QBs like Miller and Gronowski are few and far between in the FCS and if they aren't playing for a top team then they probably aren't going to stick around very long because they will undoubtedly have opportunities at the next level. Which proves that once you've got them, it's hard to keep them. We saw Bobby recruit some phenomenal kickers who didn't stay for various reasons, one of which was Buschini who transferred to Nebraska. So the argument that Bobby isn't doing it right because he hasn't recruited high school QBs who have stuck around all four or five years is completely outdated at this point. Getting the best guy you can get at the moment and keeping him as long as you possibly can is the new rule, however you make that happen.

As well, the portal has made recruiting quality high school QBs even more challenging. Players no longer have to worry about getting stuck at a school because they are buried in the depth chart. So a player that would normally be FCS has the freedom to walk on at an FBS school and kick the tires as it were, and then transfer if it doesn't work out. But now they can transfer FBS to FBS, even within conferences. And if the second school doesn't work out? Just transfer again. The only real incentive to transfer down is to get playing time. Not having to sit a year anymore changed things.

The staff has done an excellent job in the portal lately and I don't think anyone can argue with that.
Except at QB, which is the entire point of this discussion. I assure you that the majority of Griz Nation believes that recruiting the QB position by Hauck and his staff has been an ongoing weakness. Your spinning it doesn't do anything to change that.

So now you speak for all of Griz Nation?? Wow that's a lot of hubris. But coming from you I'm not shocked. Have fun with all your imaginary friends. 😂🤣

So You think mark gronowski from sdsu and cam Miller from ndsu were 5 star recruits high school when the signed to play at their schools?

Ndsu has had Carson Wentz, trey lance and Easton stick all drafted in the nfl, not one was a 5 star recruit..how do you think ndsu got them to the n.f.l., by luck?
Don't try to use facts from two of the most dominant FCS programs in the past 15 years to make your point. These Kool-Aid drinkers would rather use spin, and ignore facts.

Couldn't care less. It's why you have more than one guy in the QB room. He's found some VERY good QB's, and he's found some not so good QB's. Just like every other team using the portal (or out of HS). If it were a perfect science, YOU could do it. But alas its not, so you're relegated to the sidelines, pissing and moaning.
Your fan base of one, has got the hots for you...................

Lance was only a one-year starter. On pace to be biggest qb bust in nfl history.
And In that one year he did enough to get drafted by the 49ers in the 1st round...

I'd say you can make a case for ryan leaf, zac h Wilson, Johnny manzel, jamarcus Russell, Josh rosen,

alot of former 1st round qb.picks didn't make it.

All of this Bobby-love will ultimately come to a head during the 2024 season. We have a conference schedule that is so favorable for a "newly-dominating" team that it is almost embarrassing. So, we should go into the playoffs with no more than one loss (Cats?.... NDU?), which will mean that we once again enjoy the HUGE advantage of playing all games leading to Frisco within the cozy confines. There should be zero excuses from the apologists as to anything less than these expectations. After all, winning is what dominant teams do, correct?

Who's this "we" you keep talking about? You're an admitted 'Scat fan...

Everyone can have their opinions on who is a better QB, fine, totally. But what is being lost here is that the portal and transferring is going to be a constant. The amount of kids entering the portal and leaving for new schools has grown every year. The trend is clear, and as others have pointed out there are top schools in the hunt in the portal for even QBs.

What is great, is if you look at this, there are multiple reasons that kids are choosing us and this is probably the best portal class we have added. Cooper said he believes that this is an incredibly rare year where we hit on every kid we brought on board in terms of culture fit and on-field start. The reasons they listed in just his article for coming --
Stable Coaching (Not Changing Coaches Recently, Bobby Staying)
Environment
Fan Support
Facilities
Current Players Vouching for The Program
The 3-3-5 Defense
Winning Program
Wanting Into Program We Have
Wanting Into the Brotherhood That Has Been Built Here.

Transfers who committed before camp are S Kade Cutler (Montana State), QB Logan Fife (Fresno State), DB Chrishawn Gordon (Fresno State), DT Patrick Hayden (Monmouth), OL Everett Johnson (Cal), LB Vai Kaho (San Diego State), DB Kenzel Lawler (Utah), DE Andres Lehrmann (Youngstown State), K/P Ty Morrison (College of the Canyons), RB Stevie Rocker Jr. (Arizona) and K Johan Silver (Kent State).

Four transfers who UM offered after spring camp have committed elsewhere: CB Chris Jackson (San Diego Mesa to Colorado State), LB Malik Johnson (College of San Mateo to New Mexico State), DL Dylan LaBarbera (Butte College to Nevada) and DL Christian Lorenzo (Illinois to Georgia State).

Of the 15 guys we have offered, landed 11 and lost 4.

The Montana Grizzlies are on the right track in using the portal to land more kids than we lose. This is the modern era, and I am honestly kind of surprised at just how well out staff has adapted to it. I figured with Bobby's reticence and frustration about the transfer portal, we wouldn't be nearly this active. We are on the right trajectory if you chart it from 2018 to now, and I'm excited for the future.
