Why Isn't Pease Being Given More Attention Again?

that's all I needed to know, I didn't know the situation around him in Florida...it is apparent that when put in a good situation like at Boise he had very good results

Wish Jonathan Smith was interested:

2014 – Washington – Offensive Coordinator/Quarterbacks
• 2012-2013 – Boise State – Quarterbacks
• 2010-2011 – Montana – Offensive Coordinator/Quarterbacks
• 2004-2009 – Idaho – Quarterbacks
• 2002-2003 – Oregon State – Graduate Assistant

UW fans haven't been thrilled with Smith this year but a lot of blame should be on QB limitations. It says something that Petersen (highly respected offensive mind) chose JS as his OC over Pease, etc.

Pease was still employed at Florida when Peterson hired Smith if I recall correctly.

Does anybody know where Billy Cockhill is, or if he is still coaching?

There is a Billy Cockhill who is a real-estate loan office at 1st Interstate in Helena I believe. Don't know if it is the same one or not, but it would seem likely it is.

Nope.

Does it bother anyone that his offense while at Florida was complete dog shit?

As compared to the Florida offense this year? If you asked how was better off a year after Pease and Florida parted ways, I'd have to say Pease is better off.

Fired December 1, 2013...Petersen was still employed at BSU. Sark took USC job the 2nd. When the UW AD Woodward flew down to Boise to offer, Petersen had staff mostly in place. Smith coached for Boise in their bowl game vs. Oregon State.

One and the same.

Thanks. Wasn't sure I was right. It sounds as if Peterson wanted to keep his staff intact as it was in Boise. Wasn't Pease a later addition to the staff? Who did he replace and why?

I'm sold...

"The Broncos were 73-6 during Pease’s six seasons and averaged 481.3 yards per game in his only season as offensive coordinator, good for ninth in the country. The Broncos finished fifth in scoring offense with an average of 44.2 points a game.

Pease used a pro-style, balanced attack that relied on a fast tempo under the direction of Moore, who completed 74.3 percent of his passes. Moore threw for 3,800 yards and 43 touchdowns. Meanwhile, running back Doug Martin added 1,299 yards rushing and 16 touchdowns"

It was strange because his assistant $ pool at UW is really high and to bring his current QB coach on as new OC was surprising. The previous WR coach was also OC, Eric Kiesau. Sark got all the credit for the high powered offense last year but it was Kiesau who constructed it and led the move to the no-huddle spread...Sark unfairly took the credit. Kiesau was a very good WR coach. Pease wasn't liked very much most of the year due to lack of production and blocking by the WR's. Once his recruits (Pettis, Lenius, moving Taylor back to WR) got playing time late, the blocking and production really picked up.

But seriously, if that is the worst we can come up with, why isn't he being courted? I really can't believe we are more excited about a D2 guy with a marginal winning record regardless of how tough it is to recruit there. I will be the first to apologize if Stitt gets it and does well, but does anyone want to bet a ton of money it is more likely that Pease gets better results?

I heard the same argument in the hiring of this guy---Don Read.

Turned out pretty good.

I really hope he is not the choice, but I will not go into the reasons on eGriz.

what this dude said.

My recollection too. Immature prick back in his student days. No doubt he has matured and I'm sure he knows football.

was an ass in the 80's, but has matured. No other candidate has his resume, is an alum, would likely stay a long time (otherwise why would he take the pay cut could easily have many other FCS and some FBS offers). Why not offered....my guess is $$$$ backers want Bobby.

You're right, some candidates have actually been a head coach.

I also think this would be more about getting successful head coaching experience on the resume than being so sure he was in it for the long haul.

I like Stitt or Pease, both have produced great offensive teams.

I am excited about both candidates. And believe both are fantastic choices.

In the end, I just don't want a d :!: ck stick as a head coach. It is hard to be a fan of a d :!: ck stick! So either Pease (from previous statements made about him) has matured, or I don't want squat to do with him. If he is now a likeable guy, I'm all on board.

Stitt is already a very likeable guy.
