I think Hauck has handled the situation as well as can be expected in his first two recruiting classes. UM had a lot of receivers, athletes it had recruited to play for the Griz. Wherever those students had a chance to contribute other than receiver, they should have had that chance in the first year, especially considering the amount of scholarships available, the fact that Hauck was hired weeks before early signing period, etc.
I don't think cutting kids from the team en masse to free up scholies in December 2017 would have been great for the team.
In 2019, Hauck made a couple recruiting plays that would have been big for experience had the UM grad admissions worked out. I blame the school for that. Imagine a school hurting for students turning anyone with decent grades away. One grad transfer DB could have made a difference.
Now we have two transfers, would have been better if Fouch stuck around, but we'll see
