I do not care where the kid comes from if he can play ball I want him. Montana only has so many kids that can play for Div. #1 schools. If I am the head coach in Montana I look all over the world for players! Of course I want Montana kids to become a Griz. Face it, we can't field a team of only Montana kids and expect to win.
Not sure about the big Johnson tho.....

So this thread is for them to show how much a bigger "Montana" player johnson they have...

O.K., since you seem to be the recruiting guru, I would be interested to know what YOU think about whether MSU has out-recruited us the past three season for the highest ranked Montana players? Forget numbers of players signed. I'm talking about the 5-6-7 top rated players in the state. Players that both schools really wanted. You seem to know quite a bit about the process, so you should be able to enlighten all of us.
My sources, including a source very close to the recruiting process at UM, tells me that the Cats won more than their share for kids who both schools wanted. That's all I said, period. I am not trying to project which ones will better better college players or anything.... just saying that we used to win about 90% of the in-state battles for the best kids, now we don't. Should be pretty easy to find out from a recruiting guru like you, right? Care to comment?

How can msu out-recruit msu???
Don't you have a loss to PSU to prepare for?
And UM still (and always will) outrecruits the cats in Montana.

Coaches have slots to fill and sometimes it squeezes the Montana kids out. IE Right now the Griz have several verbals on the D side of the ball and with each verbal the chances for Montana kids go down.
On the Offensive side of the ball for instance I believe that McChessney from Glacier would be an awesome Grizzly however, the Griz already have a verbal from Pflug from Oregon and I doubt they will sign 2 QB's in any recuiting class.
Also, Last few years the Griz have been limited in scholorships, because of a stupid self imposed reason. So when that happened, coaches are very slow to give a scholly for Montana players over players that have faced better competition in High school.
Over the years this has come up almost every year and there has been some really heated conversation. One year a parent ripped UM for not recruiting his son. Truth is the kid wasn't recuited by anyone in the BigSky Conference and went on to have a career in the Frontier conference. A very average career, at a lower level.
I guess what I am saying is that coaches recruit for needs and try to get the best players they can, regardless of where they live.
With all that being said, I would hope that if the Montana coaches rate a Montana kid the same as an out of stater, they would get the Montana kid. But this, I believe rarely happens.
Question?
If the cats signed 20 Montana players this year and Griz zero, but UM won the next 4 meetings, would you care about this?
