JJ wasn't at practice today. Wondering if they are holding him out until this is figured out one way or another.

Solid questions. Wondering where you got the "early february"...everything I've seen says sometime in February. It seems that early feb vs late feb would be a big difference on the perceived validity of the complaint.

Investigators say the woman reported the alleged sexual assault late last Friday afternoon with police saying the allegation is that the woman was assaulted in early February at a home near the University of Montana campus.

lost in all this is a confusing timeline.

sometime in early febr - jj has a confrontation with the woman per mpd.
mar. 9 - t.r.o. is filed
mar. 12 - jj's attorney receives t.r.o.
mar. 15 (in the evening) - foley says he (o;day, engstrom and pflugrad) first heard of the t.r.o.
mar. 16 - woman files sexual assault claim
mar. 20 - hearing scheduled to determine if t.r.o. is made permanent

so why wait almost a month to file a t.r.o.? and why the 3 day delay between when the attorney got the t.r.o. and um finding out? odd that the atty/jj didn't inform anyone at um about this.

Hmmmm, let's see. Put yourself in her shoes. If, and I am saying a BIG if because no one has been charged and we are all jumping to conclusions on each side, the assault the took place. Here you are, a smaller, weaker individual who has just been molested by someone much larger, much stronger, and with much more nortoriety on campus. Maybe you were even threatened about running off and telling someone about the assualt. Now, do you think you are going to waltz right in to MPD the next morning and file a report? Can you even imagine the courage this young woman must have had to build up to even consider the thought of confronting her attacker? Everyone just assumes it's all easy. "Oh yeah, I'd have no problem taking him to the cops." Yeah right. Before you start trying to go all CSI on us with your anaylsis of the time frame, how about letting the authorites figure all that out?

Sportin' Life. In all serious, I will pay face value for one of your season tickets. Being a Cat-Griz year I need one tic this year. Please PM with info if you are interested, but please do so without the Moral High Ground Retoric.

Hopefully that doesn't take up his redshirt season.

Wow! WTF?

I really don't know what to write. On the one hand, I want to be funny. But, on the other hand, I am seriously pissed about this.

Funny: Can the Griz look at going the SEC route and just assign a girl to each incoming football player?

Serious: These incidents are no longer a just "a one bad apple". Regardless if there is actual legal wrong doing by Jordon Johnson, it is quite clear that the culture of the UM football team is one of power, control, aggression, and narcissism. Frankly, I am sliding closer to the thought that the UM football team should have one or two years suspended from all play. Yeah, you read that right. This is just a game, these players are negatively affecting people for the rest of their lives. Real people.

Preemptively, F-off Player and Growler.

Last year I took my two three-year old girls to a few of the games, and I was looking forward to trying to make it to all of the games with them this next fall. But now, I am thinking that I will find something else to do with them this next fall. If even a fraction of what has been alleged is actually true, then still the Grizzly program still has a serious problem. I am with you, it is hard to root for players when just can't trust that they are decent people. And I surely don't want my girls to grow up admiring these boys when there seem to be such a large collection of creeps in their midst.

And I need to hear outrage from the fans, not a bunch of excuses. This cannot all be the fault of the girls, or Gwen Florio, or anything else other than the football team. There is no way there is this much out there, and not some blame to be had on the part of the football team. And maybe Pflugrad didn't create, or in any way cause this problem, and likely he never even envisioned it, but if he wants to be the leader of this team he had better figure out a way to solve it.
  ......Just Wow.........Please don't come to any more games. This is nothing more than a witch hunt.

So, what do these people running the hunt get out of it? I guarantee to you that every person in corrections, in Missoula city and county, are huge Griz football fans. They don't want any of this.

Edit: Although I can see the possibility of being wrongly accused (I actually work with the authority on memory confabulation and false witness testimony), I personally have, and know of no one that has been accused of something that did not at least have a hint of truth behind the accusation. Here, we have a plethora of events, with each of these involving harassment/abuse of women. I'm sure Sportin' life is extremely torn and hurt by this team. I know I am.

It is absolutely not true that everyone doing investigations and prosecutions in Missoula are Griz football fans. Some of them are actually anti-football and anti-athlete. Some of them, of course, are Griz football fans.

False accusations are made all the time. Jeez, look at the stats. Also, a hint of truth is not enough for an allegation.

Player, do I know you? If so, please come introduce yourself at one of my parents' holiday parties. They're the parties where there are twenty Sheriff deputies, 15 police officers, and a hand-full of city/county/federal parole and probation officers.

Don't do it Player. See cop, new direction.

I was going to say something about cops and spending a holiday party with them....but I realized that there must be at least one who isn't a fucking asshole on a power trip, so I erased it. No need to spew myopic judgement on this rational board.

(that's a joke...I KNOW there is one......;)

Here is the funny thing. My parents' good friend, who played for the Griz in the 70s, always said that football players either become law enforcement or criminals. Frankly, I have never seen a more true stereotype.

Well, since we're speculating, wouldn't it be possible that the alleged rapist continued to try and contact the alleged victim to try and tell his side of the story, or to even try and "persuade" her to not file a complaint? At some point, I'm guessing something happened between the two since the alleged rape and the filing of the restraining order. Anything is possible, I guess.

Had a couple of brandy's and all you can think of is to call people idiots?

Or is this the argumentative skill that you charge people for?

Let me know if you want to put on, or throw off, the gloves. I'm good to go either way. I won't even charge you the regular $485 per hour to talk to me. Brandy, your even mentioning brandy says something about you. Like I said, what an idiot. Note that I'm not calling people idiots; I'm saying you are an idiot.

UM student accuses Grizzlies quarterback of rape

A University of Montana student has made a police report alleging starting Grizzlies quarterback Jordan Johnson raped her, according to the Missoula Police Department.

Detective Sgt. Bob Bouchee said Monday the woman filed the complaint late Friday afternoon.

A week earlier, the woman received a temporary restraining order against Johnson, which forbids him from coming within 1,500 feet of her or her home, and from threatening or harassing her.

The order is in effect until March 27. Johnson is scheduled to appear in Missoula Municipal Court Tuesday morning for a hearing on whether the order should be continued.

Through his attorney, David Paoli, Johnson denied the allegations. Paoli said that Johnson and the woman are acquaintances, and that the alleged incident happened last month.

The Grizzlies football team began spring practice Monday. UM vice president Jim Foley said that for the time being, the university’s new Student-Athlete Conduct Code is being applied to Johnson.

Specifically, Foley said, Johnson is cited under the section of Category 3 violations that apply when a student-athlete “is found to have engaged in conduct that is deemed inappropriate, reckless, inciting, or malicious which brings embarrassment to the team, the Department of Athletics, or the campus, community, but does not rise to the threshold of a Category 2 violation.”

Category 2 violations include misdemeanor offenses; Category 1 is reserved for student-athletes charged with felonies.

“The code of conduct will speak for itself,” Foley said of Johnson’s case.

The code’s mandatory minimum sanction for a Category 3 violation lists one or more of the following, depending on the offense: mandatory alcohol or drug counseling, community service, a letter of apology, a behavior contract, restitution, parent/guardian notification, or suspension from practice or team activities.

“We’ll continue to monitor him as time goes along,” Foley said. “It’s a new day and there’s a new athletic code of conduct. We’re going to be very clear and consistent in terms of how we apply it.”

Such consistency was one of the recommendations in a report filed Jan. 31 by former Montana Supreme Court Justice Diane Barz, hired by the university to examine issues surrounding allegations of sexual assault involving students.

Although federal law mandates decisive action in such cases, “this is the most difficult part for the UM and other universities because the guidelines are not clear on what constitutes ‘prompt and effective steps,’ ” Barz wrote in her report.

At least its the first article I have seen accusing Jordan Johnson of full on rape not sexual assualt.
