The anecdotal tidbits that invariably leak out after a few months/years will be interesting...especially if the coach's succes is at one extreme or the other.

He took that program to a bowl game. Some point to his character. A dick who won 80% of his games...works for me. Felt he sold out and abandoned the program? That's how this works! It's called career trajectory. Recruiting? He can still point to a half dozen current nfl players. Didn't win the big game? James Madison had a stud defense, Richmond dline was impressive, and the qb from nova was special. Were we favored in any of those? He also won several big time playoff games. 2009 alone was legendary.
Hauck isn't perfect but he's proven. The argument about new blood is valid. But bobby can ball and a highly motivated, ready to prove his success wasn't a fluke, pissed off hauck is the coach I want. Go griz
That same question could probably be asked about Mines...

They have at least a 35 yr tradition of winning. When there was NAIA Division I and II, they had very good seasons in I, while the Frontier was in II.

Are you really this big of a douchebag in real life or do you just play one on egriz? It's a serious question.

jcu27 said:No. BH was successful at Montana(FCS). Unsuccessful at UNLV(higher division). Stitt is barely successful in D2. But he's going to come to Montana and be the greatest thing ever? Because he has an offensive mind and its hard to recruit smart athletes..?? Ok so he's an OC. And he's obviously not a good recruiter because there are plenty of great student athletes. I'm not sold on him at all. Would be a terrible hire imo. OC at best. Maybe assistant head coach to but that's stretching it.grizatwork said:jcu27 said:Yeah..... no.grizatwork said:Apples to Oranges. You compare a team and a coach to their peers.
OK. Put School of Mines in the Mountain West and you get an 0-12 team. Put UNLV in the RMAC and they are D2 national champs. So....yeah. You compare a team and coach based on who they play with similar size schools, talent, and coaching.

Agreed.....and the negativity put out is constant. Rarely anything positive to say. Ever.

So....from your post, success, to you, is some conference titles and an appearance in the playoffs?

If calling it like it is....is being negative. Most people just don't like hearing the truth. I will also add that "if" Stitt is hired...I like it.

Never judge Jell-O until it forms. Obama gave some sweet speeches but has had an epic fail as Prez, just saying.

Bob Stitt will become the new head coach at #Montana, source told @FoxSports. Formal announcement's expected middle of next wk #StittHappens
Totally reasonable! Honestly, a great response IMO, for what that's worth. All I'm saying is that if he was coming here with all his own staff, I would be concerned. That APPEARS to be not the case. IMO, again, it allows him to focus on what he specializes in, offense. I think with what we have coming in and the type of O he runs, it could be awesome! If some of this staff stays on like others report, then it's a plus for everyone. We need a really good OC, it's glaring. With this talent, it's been underutilized IMO, again. I see a kid like Pflug and Sims in the line and I'm loving the possibilities.mtgrizrule said:Dmontanagrizzlies said:mtgrizrule said:Until an official announcement is made, I will continue to hold out hope for Pease or Hauck. I hear you there. Unfortunately, myself and many others, know very little about Stitt. Even on egriz, all we know is, he is an offensive guru. That really is not much to go by. So for me, it will be gradual learning to form my opinion(s).
