Was told Bobby Hauck knew he had to win at Hawaii or gone. Wants Montana job. Gets $400,000 golden parachute. #mylvsports

Here is how Montana has fared since Hauck left for UNLV: (from UNLV post)

2010: 7-4/5-3 ... missed FCS playoffs for the first time since 1992 .... Lost to Montana State

2011: 11-3/7-1 ... advanced to FCS semi-finals ...... Both the Big Sky Title and Semi-Finals appearance were vacated in 2013 due to NCAA infractions committed by the HC at the time...The final 5 wins of the season were also forfeited, including the win over Montana State

2012: 5-6/3-5 .... 26 year streak of winning seasons was broken..... Lost to Montana State

2013: 10-3/6-2 .. Beat Montana State.... finished 3rd in Big Sky, and lost at home to Coastal Carolina in 1st round of FCS playoffs ...

2014: 2nd round playoffs.

Montana has lost 18 games in the last 4 years + 6 games of this year. They lost 17 games in 7 years under Hauck.... The loss total goes up to 23 when counting the 5 games forfeited in 2011

Montana won the Big Sky 1 time the past 4 years, and that title had to be forfeited
Montana has made the playoffs only 2 of the last 4 years, and the 2011 playoff appearance had to be vacated
Montana has 11 losses in the Big Sky since Hauck left.... total goes up to 13 when counting the forfeited wins over Weber State and MSU in 2011.... Lost only 6 Big Sky games in 7 years under Hauck

THIS. One heck of a post for a first post.

While Im not saying I only want Hauck back, I would be very happy to see him return to UM even though it is highly unlikely RE or the BoR would allow it. Say what you want about Bobby never winning the big game, at least we were in the title hunt each year he was here and dominated the Big Sky.

Great post....Past performance in the conference (7 consecutive Big Sky Championships) is likely scaring the hell out of the other coaches in the Big Sky.....I would venture to say that most opposing coaches are hoping and dreaming for Stitt.

I would rather not win the big one (but play for it) than the guaranteed mediocrity that would come with Stitt.....guy has won ONE playoff game ever, and had 70 hung on them the next week.

Bobby has a much better chance at actually winning a national championship than Stitt does. Bobby can say he at least got to the title game 3 times.

It is all good, the seemingly 3 guys are a mediocre D2 head coach, a retread that can not win the big game, and a guy that has won no games as a head coach...sounds like a solid pool of candidates.

Vacating is not the same as forfeiting. We vacated wins AND a loss from the 2011 season. For Montana, it is as if the games were not played when it comes to the record. For the other teams, they maintain their loss or win all the same, their record does not change.

not sure how you can guarantee mediocrity, from your own admittance you don't know anything about him.

While I know there must be secret decoder for seeing what a great coach Stitt is, what he has produced on the field (Wins/Losses/Conference Championships/Playoff Records) don't point to excellence and dominance, they point to mediocrity....Your reputation and professional opportunities in college football are predicated on the things mentioned above. He has won 62% of the college football games he has coached....one outright conference championship and one playoff win in 15 seasons. The anti-Hauck folks lament him never winning the chipper....he played for it three times in seven seasons (winning seven consecutive Big Sky titles)... While not winning that game stains his resume, winning those games is harder than you can believe..usually the other team is very good and is trying to win also. Montana played teams that were 13-2, 13-3 and 14-1 in the three title games under Bobby.

In 15 seasons, Stitt's teams have gotten into the playoffs three times and have won ONE game...nothing here points to a formula for success in the much tougher Big Sky and FCS.

Yet you do not want to question what BH has produced at UNLV? What makes you think that UNLV at the FBS level does not equate Colorado Mines at the D2 level?

Here is what I know; Bobby sucked at UNLV. No one has ever won there, likely no one will. Hell, Saban and Belicheck could not win there. Why both Bobby and Joe Glenn were convinced that they resurrect very bad programs is a great mystery...call it blind ego and money.

That being said Bobby won here at an amazing clip and played for three National Titles. Stitt coaches at a less competitive d2 level and has had moderate success, but by no means has he dominated ever.

My point is, the same fans that have skewered Bobby for not winning National titles are anointing a less than dominant Stitt....there are better choices, not just Bobby.

The cat fans will be pissed that Bobby is back for sure. That, in itself, is the BEST reason to bring him back.
Tidbit: Bobby flew into Butte and drove here (HIS suggestion due to Missoula fog) ..... don't see anyone else doing whatever it takes to get the job. There YA go -- period.

He sounds more desperate...

I'm a bh guy; give me special teams, defense and halftime adjustments. Those that point to his record at unlv...what are reasonable expectations at unlv? He took that program to a bowl game. Some point to his character. A dick who won 80% of his games...works for me. Felt he sold out and abandoned the program? That's how this works! It's called career trajectory. Recruiting? He can still point to a half dozen current nfl players. Didn't win the big game? James Madison had a stud defense, Richmond dline was impressive, and the qb from nova was special. Were we favored in any of those? He also won several big time playoff games. 2009 alone was legendary.

Hauck isn't perfect but he's proven. The argument about new blood is valid. But bobby can ball and a highly motivated, ready to prove his success wasn't a fluke, pissed off hauck is the coach I want. Go griz
