If you disagree with Don’t kick on this, congratulations you just told the whole board that you don’t understand football. An offense without a good to great Oline are just skill position players doing cardio while the qb waits to die. Yeah let’s pretend wr and db play beats what is going on in the trenches. Maybe next you’ll tell the board that pass rush doesn’t matter because sacks are just a qb stat. Football is won up front. Anyone arguing otherwise might be watching the same game as the rest of us, but their brain is on airplane mode.

I said nothing about a good OL, nor did he. I disagreed with what he said. Both of these sentences. If you agree with those sentences, then you don't understand football. Those two sentences are not true. Your skill players still matter, alot. I don't know what he means by "parts" and suppose it's hard to compare "parts", but if you don't have a very good to great QB, your offense isn't going to be very good. And since the OL has 5 players, my "part" would QB, RB and top receiver, only 3. That part is very very important. Give me a a great QB, even with only a decent OL. Give me a great QB, and very good RB, and very good OL, even with only a decent OL. UM didn't have a great OL or great DL last year, and some would say both were not even good or very good, and the team was 13-2 and no. 3 in the nation. What he said is just plain wrong.

Thanks for the info. I didn't see an announcement from the university so I wasn't sure if I missed something saying Brent Myers was our new OL coach.

That doesn't support what DontKick said. Everyone knows the OL is important. And the above quote certainly doesn't support the rest of what DK said. My god, learn to read. And learn something about the game. And I don't agree with Harbaugh either. What good is a great OL, with a bad QB, bad RB's, and bad receivers? The OL is sure as heck doesn't depend on other positions and positions groups to have success. Who cares how well the OL holds their blocks of the QB can't pass, the RB's can't run, and the receivers can't catch.

You’re just being a neggie with the Griz offensive and defensive lines. The offensive line was among if not the best in the FCS for pass protection throughout the whole season. The defensive line had some top tier players for example first team all conference Hunter Peck. Against the Cats were probably their 2 worst games. You are not paying attention to the big picture if you don’t think the Griz offensive and defensive lines were at-least very good.

A great offensive lineman without a good qb, running back or wide receiver is an NFL Hall of Famer. Prime example being Joe Thomas. Who has made the Hall of Fame at an offensive skill position without at-least 1 good offensive lineman teammate?

The Broncos may have the best OL in the NFL. I think I saw their PFF was the highest. Do you think they will win their next playoff game? I don't.

Our O line definitely wasn't one of the best in pass protection. It was Ah Yats ability to make his reads and get the ball out quickly. I would say at least closer to 70% of his passes were getting out at 2-3 seconds. And when Botner was center, Ah Yat had to work around poor snaps at least half the time. I thought the O-line got better as the year went along, but a big reason why defenses couldn't get to the QB was because Ah Yat was phenomenal most of the time with his reads and getting the ball out quick.

The Patriots have the most improved OL in the NFL per PFF they are not scrubs by any means. I think the Broncos have a decent chance at winning maybe 1/3 odds. I’ll be going out in Scottsdale to watch the game. I heard Dierks Bentley Whiskey Row is the spot for a Broncos watch bar.

The Griz did not give many sacks.

UM gave up 23 sacks. MSU 32. ISU 3. Did they have the best OL in the conference? 3 sacks in the last/extra game. UM gave up 6 sacks against UND. 3 against Idah St.

495 passes for UM to 376 for MSU. 27 passes in the last/extra game.

So, UM gave up way fewer sacks per play than MSU. And Lamson is mobile.

So why did MSU give up more sacks, and way more sacks per passing attempt? Bad OL? Immobile QB?

MSU leans heavier into vertical shots, qb run game and play action. Those designs hold the ball longer and invite free rushers.
