A Cat fan purchased the property awhile back (informed the city council of his intentions) and is in the process of undeveloping it!

This is a VERY sad turn of events.

Hammer, it was the first thing I noticed driving home from the App State game. We always honk when we pass the Griz sign, which is every home game.
The cat sign looks professionally done, kind of like one of those bus wrappers. Makes me wonder if it could be peeled off.

There was a change to the Griz sign several years ago from a version that looked like the official lettering to more of a homemade job. I thought a Griz from Whitehall posted that the guy responsible for the original sign wasn't around anymore, but the new owners were carring on the tradition.

I met the guy who posted the Griz sign about 10 years ago in the Bob Marshall Wilderness. I worked with the Forest Service at the time and he was with a group of retirees that were former smoke jumpers doing volunteer trail work.

He had great stories about the sign. He said he had it all stenciled out so he could make one in about 10 minutes. He said there wasn't a week that went by that he didn't have to make a new one.

There are two signs outside of Laurel that are smaller. They are on both sides of the interstate and about 4 years back they said GO Griz. Someone with a small penis vandalized the signs and spray painted across the Griz. They then sprayed Cats at the bottom. The owner of the property then changed the sign to say Go Griz/Go Cats. FTC - one day I hope somebody changes those signs back so they are correct again.

Yes this is true the new owner is very pleased to see the Griz sign go. This sucks even more for me because I have to drive past it every day on the way to work. Oh it makes me so sad.

Ok I guess I belive you but could have swore it was still Griz 5 or 6 weeks ago when I drove by. Maybe I'm just getting senile! :(

WTF is right. That sign always gave me a certain level of peace as I inched closer and closer to Blozeman.

It's Whitehall hammer, redneckville. It's a cat town, that griz sign was getting pretty faded an had not been painted for a while. Personally I was surprised it lasted as long as it did.

Listen, nobody likes to see that sign, but someone told that man that his sign was featured on this forum and while he told me he plans on being at the game, he has made some arrangements with the county sherriff deputy who lives just below that sign to keep an eye on it this weekend. Besides, it will make us look like a bunch of thugs (and I'm not missing the Bobcat butt whooping to go sit in jail!)

Nobody likes to see that sign! I guess someone told that guy his sign was on this forum and he told them he had already assumed some Griz fan might try to do something so he asked the Sherriff Deputy who lives in a house below that sign to keep an eye on his property for him. I'd skip it, I'd rather see the Cats get beat than be getting bailed out at game time!
