WHICH BIG SKY TEAM CAN PULL OFF A BCS UPSET

Man, why do we have to go play tennessee and iowa. Can't we find a crap team to get paid to beat? Honestly, UNLV, the New Mexico's, Idaho, Wyoming, Colorado State,Utah State, Oregon State...all of these teams are the shits and right there to play. You would think we could line this out.

They won't pay UM what it thinks its worth, so the Griz don't go to those places....

so you are saying that um has an over-inflated view of their self value..

Yeah......I would have to agree :thumb:

You mean Wyoming who is fresh off of an 8-5 season, or Utah State who is fresh off of a 7-6 season? Do you even bother to research things before you say them? Oregon State is barely in the pits right now, one real bad season in the last how many?

Thanks. BTW, UNLV not on Twitter, as I believe players are not to be on there. BH had a hell of an experience a yr or 2 ago when glamour boy Philip Payne was criticizing what BH was doing. One other player may have been doing the same thing. Several teams are avoiding Twitter.

I didn't mean UNLV players, I meant the UNLV beat writer.. whomever it is doesn't have a Twitter acct. That's where I get all my MW news is by following the other schools' beat writers.

Here are the records for the last 4 years that were easily available. I would love to get more but I don't have time to look for more information to prove my point. These teams may have won some games recently, but in recent memory they are a ways from being great teams. I'll give you that we're not playing Alabama, LSU or Nebraska...but an SEC and Big 10 school are not as soft as a decent WAC or Mountain West team. Sorry, hate to have to say it I hate the SEC with a passion but that's the way it is.
The other thing here is that a lot of the teams I listed play in the same conference and beat the hell out of each other. If we split the Big Sky and had the top half of the teams (Montana, Montana State, EWU...) and we had the bottom half of the teams (Northern Colorado, Idaho State...) Is the winner of the latter an elite FCS team for winning their conference? Are their wins as valuable as teams in another conference? We all know that the answer is no. Until the WAC or Mountain West is something other than what it is the vast majority of the teams will be crap and the ones that aren't are red headed step children the BCS hates (Boise State, TCU)
Utah State
7-6 win Weber State
4-8 win Idaho State
4-8 win Southern Utah
3-9
18-31 Take out the FCS wins 15-31
Wyoming
8-5 win Weber State win Texas State
3-9 win Southern Utah
7-6 win Weber State
4-8 win NDSU
22-28 take out the FCS losses 17-28
Oregon State
3-9 LOSS TO SAC STATE
5-7
8-5 win Portland State
9-4
25-25 take out the FCS losses 24-25

These 3 teams with FCS

65-84

These 3 without FCS

54-84

You've really blown my opinion out of the water here, I just don't know how I could be so shortsighted. There is a reason I listed the teams that I did. They need to show something different. I didn't list Washington or Washington State because I feel they have made good strides with coach hires recently. I'm really sorry for all of the Aggies, Cowboys and Beavers that I pissed off but if you're not pissed with your teams record in the past 4 years you should be.

I don't think SAC will be pulling an FBS upset this year. You have to be able to throw the ball with some proficiency to challenge an FBS school (i.e. Sac last year and against Colorado State in '08, EWU/BBQU challenging big boys on several occasions).

We had a dual threat drop-down Nevada QB (very similar to Jeff Fleming from the past two years, probably with a better arm and slightly less speed) who was our likely starter, but he's injured and our scrambling QB from last year is all we're left with. We lost pretty much every one at each skill position... Reed, Deadder, and Hendeshott are gone at WR... Hilliard, Croxdale, and Shaw are gone at RB... should be an interesting year!

Still the defense will be strong, especially in the secondary. AND, the kicking game should resemble that of at least an average HS team, as opposed to the pop warner game-losing fiasco of last year.

NMSU 24 SAC 7

Colorado 31 SAC 13

I agree with Kadeezy. If we can get respectable QB play we might have a shot against NMSU. Both NMSU and Colorado graduated a lot of players so they will both have a lot of questions marks coming into the season, the only problem is so will we. :|

I don't know what you mean by this. Are you saying, for example, that a school's "beat writer" is going to say that this year's team doesn't look as good as, or is the same as, last year's team? If the UNLV beat writer doesn't Tweet, why do you conclude that this year's UNLV team is going to be no better than last year's team?

You have no clue re: this year's Rebel team. Admit it and stop promulgating your ignorance. It doesn't become you. I may have scarlet colored glasses, but you have brown colored glasses, as well.

Can't say that Weber is a conference power, but the Wildcats have been a solid contenders for the past few seasons. Under Mac, and especially since 08, the Cats have been fairly competitive in their games against FBS competition. Weber had Wyoming on the ropes twice; especially last year, and should have beaten CSU in 09. Shoulda, coulda, woulda doesn't count much especially if the final is still a L. Yet, the Cats have been able to hold their own against most of the FBS teams on their schedule. Let's all be honest though, the MW Conference is pretty damn poor and most of Weber's close games have been against MW teams. This year, I'm not so sure if the Cats are going to be as solid as we have been in the past. The talent is there, but I'm not so sure about the coaching yet. Fresno isn't what it use to be and I'm not so sure they are going to be a headline team under their newest HC, but BYU is a different monster all together. I don't think they are as amazing as they have been in the past, but still they are a lot better than Weber. I say the Cats have a 30%-35% chance at beating Fresno and a 20% of beating BYU. Beating BYU would, to me, be the greatest win in Weber State football history.

Fact, Mountain West coaches and sports writers all voted UNLV to finish 9th out of 10 teams. I'm not the ignorant one. As I've told you, I know more about Mountain West football than most people do, and far more than you. Try branching out and reading something other than the UNLV board if you want a view of the Mountain West, and how UNLV is perceived outside of RebelNet. For instance, take a trip over to MtnWestFans.com or mwcboard.com and see what's up for news. Try reading TheUpsetBlog once in a while, or Mountain West Connection, or Mountain West Football analysis.. until you get further educated perhaps you should stop swinging your ignorance sword around at other people and try stabbing yourself with it.

Thanks for those links. What I've wanted, all along.
