So here's what we KNOW for certain.
Baldwin isn't a finalist for the job.
That's IT..That's all we KNOW....LOL.
No really though, what else do we absolutely KNOW? We all have our sources, but what is set in stone at this point?
Stitt is a legit candidate, who a few guys insist has already been hired.
Ty Gregorak is a legit candidate, others are claiming he's already agreed to continue on as the DC for Stitt. I'll say, I've heard just the opposite. That it's HC or nothing for Ty at this point.
Bobby seems to be the biggest mystery still. I know for a fact he initiated contact with Haslam. I know for a fact, he did not resign ONLY to do that. He was going to be fired eventually, and if you ask him, he'll tell you that. BH is a very direct and honest guy. I also know that Montana isn't the only football program he's been in contact with. We've heard so many different things since he was officially done at UNLV, from that he's already been hired to he's not interested, to members of the B.O.R. having already told Kent he won't be allowed to be hired. If I'm forgetting anything on BH, please feel free to add. I will say, If I was getting to choose, I would have hired Bobby and announced it last night. I know AG1 hates me for that, but I honestly think an older, a little more humble, and a little more rich Bobby, combined with where UM is heading, could absolutely destroy the Big Sky Conference and it wouldn't take long. But that's just me.
Then there's Blankenship and Vigen. Are they both seeking the same job, or are they a package deal? Blankenship is an interesting guy. Could he be UM's Joe Moglia?
I have no idea what's going on with Brent Pease other than that Kent met with him in Spokane before the Apple Cup. I thought this time around, Pease was a real threat to be the leading candidate for this job, but I also thought money would be the reason he doesn't go after it.
So, is that where we're at now? Or am I forgetting anybody? Please, feel free to chime in and you don't need to name your sources, as I didn't mine.
And while we're on the subject of coaching, it looks like MSU-Northern's head coach will NOT be from the Montana high school ranks. Early rumors were that both Grady Bennett and Troy Purcell were going to apply, but that never ended up happening. MSU-N will be announcing the finalists in the coming days.
