Where to buy a legit jersey?

Hmm, they sell all sorts of crap in the bookstore with the copper and gold. Maybe the definition of "merchandise" is what's at question here?

Like this shirt that I just bought when I was in town:

I assure you they are not approved colors and they haven't been for years. It is illegal to produce Griz merchandise using the old Copper and Gold. It's possible the bookstore has old inventory and is still selling that. The fact is there are a lot of vendors that have no clue about the rules until they are caught.

Who gives a s#*$? The bookstore is missing out by not selling more gold and copper and if someone wants to get it some other way I say more power to them.

The lettering and numbers are different because the have to fit over pads. If you got one that was the same, is would look alot different when you wear it.

Good point. :thumb: I notice when the players wear the jerseys sans pads, the shoulders are awfully puffy. You dont see that on any fan.

I was wondering where a person might buy a throwback band uniform? Everybody and their dog has a football jersey.

I have a couple Griz uniforms that I picked up at GSA functions. One was a raffle prize. The other was a silent auction item. They are not the kind the of thing you would wear to a game or anywhere else for that matter. They're uniforms. If you're looking for something to wear, buy a jersey.

Wow are you serious? OLD INVENTORY? Those shirts have been on sale for YEARS. What, did they order 4,000,000 shirts back in like '86 and figure they'd sell them all eventually? Get real. They STILL produce them every year.

And go here:

Gold is still an official school color, dunce.

So far you've called me misinformed and a dunce. I guess that makes you ignorant because you are flat out wrong. Why don't you contact UM's office in charge of licensing to get the correct answer.

http://www.umt.edu/evp/programs/trademark.aspx

I won't hold my breath waiting for you to come back on here and admit you were wrong.

Gold and Yellow were unofficially allowed on Griz merchandise until approximately 1998. If anybody is still producing Griz gear in those colors then it is illegal. It is only a matter of time until they are caught and penalized, including the possibility of losing their license to produce Griz gear. I know for a fact these items get pulled all the time from retailers. Vendors creating them frequently get in trouble. I can't explain why the bookstore is still selling a few old items, but I can guarantee you that if CLC and UM licensing were aware they would be pulled as well. Those are the facts. Sorry you have been misinformed.

lol You are so ridiculous. Tomorrow I am going to go to the bookstore to buy a new shirt or two in the OLD colors. I'm willing to bet that they were produced recently too.

I don't really care if you believe me. I was simply trying to respond to a user's question and inform them why you can't readily find gold and copper Griz merchandise. The old school colors are still extremely popular among Griz faithful. Why do you suppose they can't be found everywhere for sale in a variety of options? The demand is there, but it is illegal to produce these items. I believe the last legally produced old school Griz merchandise were the 2008 throwback uniforms. At that time there were a lot of upset vendors because they weren't allowed to capitalize on merchandise with those colors.

I issue the same challenge to you as I did Willie - contact UM's licensing office tomorrow and see who's correct. I have provided the link above and all you have to do is make a quick call. I won't hold my breath for you to come back here and admit you're wrong either.

How would UM not know what's being sold in the bookstore?

Why the hell would they be illegal? What do they have to do? Give royalties to the 64 box of crayons for using a different color?

Dude... you are missing the point. Shirts with the old colors are still in production, are licensed & endorsed by UM, & are even carried at the UM Bookstore.

This thread made me want to change the channel during one of those sad Sarah McLachlan animal commercials.

I'm still right on this one, and will probably have 98% of the board agree with me. You can go to the bookstore, right now, and buy a copper and gold football shirt. It's being sold in the UM bookstore, directly affiliated with the University of Montana, and are still being produced.

Deal with it.

I would choose Sarah McLachlan and the animal commercial.

I also have to admit that I am the one producing illegal merchandise in the old school colors we have been doing it for years.....hanging out in the seedy back alley in an abandoned building, kicking argh off of another bum as they huddle together for warmth every time I return home..........I am an addict, I need this.

I just bought one... I guess UM needs to sue the bookstore...

Every year eGriz goes full retard for a little while. This year it came early and looks to hang on well into the fall.
