After the UNI game, all I could think was "Holy shit, Pflu is building something amazing".

That seems like decades ago, now

And the year before that, damn near everyone wanted to run Pflu out on the rails.

The fact of the matter is that it's nearly unheard of to do what UM has done the past 25 years, and it created some unrealistic expectations. Any FCS team (or, frankly, FBS team) who has lost as much NFL-quality talent over the past 3 or 4 years that the Griz have will struggle.

They'll be back soon, right where we expect them to be. And if I had to venture a guess, I'd say it'll be with a vengence.

I agree with you to an extent. Do you really think we would have gone 5-6 with Robin at the helm? I chalk up at least 2 of those losses to poor coaching.

Well said and I could not agree more. :thumb:

Yes the Griz had a fantastic run for a lot of years. But, the landscape has changed. The conference is much stronger now. Teams have caught up with the Griz. The days of teams being on top for many years are over.

“The determining factor is the program is going in the right direction...” -Tanner Roderick

Like it or not Griz fans, this is the line that's being sold to every recruit we are going head to head against the Cats (and most other schools) with. Until we end this perception, we are going to come out on the short end of the stick more often than we like. As much as I would have loved for Roderick to come here, the more I looked at it from his standpoint, why would he? Strong family Bobcat tradition + upwardly mobile Cat FB program + possible NCAA sanctions + the all-around general uncertainty regarding our FB program = a stacked deck in favor of the Cats. The thing that pisses me off most, is that 2 years ago, by most accounts, Pflu had TRod in our pocket (in spite of family tradition) until Nevada swooped in late. Now, we are a program struggling to regain our identity. I hope they prove me wrong this upcoming season, but I have no faith in Gragg and Delaney being capable or righting the ship. Its truly amazing how nearly 3 decades of success can be undone so quickly.

I love seeing a griz have a revelation :thumb:

Yeah, I heard that same argument countless times from you a few years ago.

Then the GRIZ went into bozo, beat the "number one team in the nation" by 30 or something, and then were within a field goal of yet another trip to the title game.

Will the Griz win 17 straight conference titles again?? Probably not. And as I mentioned above, anyone who has that expectation is being completley unreasonable to begin with.

Yet you do not have the intestinal fortitude to predict your team (Scats) will now be on top. Thus the problem with your team in the playoffs. No confidence and poor performance. You should contact Pfizer and see if they will advertise in the Scat stadium. A huge frigging blue pill right in the middle of the field. I for one disagree - the Griz will be back as EG predicted and it will be with a vengeance.

Other views or interpretations might be:

"After almost 25 years of being down, MSU is finally going in the right direction."

"My goal is to help the team figure out how to win more than one playoff game, live up to our seeding and ranking, win home playoff games, and not get blown out in playoff games."

"After one of the best qb's in MSU history graduates, I hope to be able to keep MSU from falling off the cliff again."

All in fun. While I never saw him play, I was told by multiple people that he was terrific player and athlete. UM would have been fortunate to have him in Missoula. It will be interesting to see how well he does in the Big Sky. Good luck to him.

I didn't say the Griz wouldn't be back. But they will not be dominating year after year like they did in the past. Like I said, the conference is much stronger now.

Shocking.

Just think, now you guys can spend the next month with your delusions about the return of JJ.

:?

OK, sorry Player, as you can see by ALL of my posts on Brekke and Trod, I prefaced as saying I'm just guessing and don't pretend to have inside sources who KNOW, and I don't use conversations I have with people that do have information as "People who KNOW." I have prefaced everything I have said so far on both topics, and going all the way back to my friendly battles with Hammer on Tate Forcier, as GUESSES. So far I am 3-0 on guesses. I'm going to stick with my perfect streak and GUESS JJ will never play another down for the Montana Grizzlies. It might be because he's found guilty, it might be because Engstrom upholds the expulsion after aquittal, it might be because he decides he wants to move on with his life, it might because he's made at the entire state of Montana for what happened to him. But I'm going to GUESS he won't be back with the Griz...

JJ will be back unless he's found guilty or unless Engstrom expels him for an offense for which he has been found innocent. I don't see either one I those happening and I strongly believe he will be back where he belongs next year - kicking ass for the Griz.

So don't say JJ isn't coming back.............say I don't think JJ will be back.

As far as Brekke and the other guy who failed at Nevada I like to concentrate on what we have recruited rather than what we didn't.

Since this is a Tanner Roderick thread, and so many of you seem to know Jordan Johnson personally, know what he is thinking and what he is planning, how does JJ feel about the Griz trying to bring Trod in? And mind you, there is no way in hell the Griz were bringing Trod in here to play WR. Just curious on those of you who speak for Jordan what his feelings are on that issue.
