I think the Richmond game helped. A 14 is possible but a 15 at the least. Maybe another Mountain West match-up?
They were talking today that the Lobos win over UNLV for the Mtn West title and an RPI of 2 could give them the #1 seed in the west (dropping Gonzaga to a 2). Either team as the 2 seed would be brutal for us if we go in as a 15.

No way the Zags don't get a #1 seed.....
Will be interesting to see how it plays out. As of this morning Louisville is a 1, talk of Duke at 1 and Miami a 1 if they beat UNC. Although I personally think they are over rated, Gonzaga may fall victim to playing in a weaker conference and also they may have lost standing with the selection committee since the WCC tourney was wrapped up almost a week ago and tourney fever has been running high the last 2 days.

With UCLA losing last night, that might create a potential game for the Griz out west. Plus UCLA just lost one of their starters.

You don't want to play New Mexico Again. They are very strong inside and have an outstanding outside shooter as well.

New Mexico would have easily won the PAC this year and the MWC was better then the PAC overall.

14 seed vs New Mexico

That would be just fine with me.

not to sound like i'm talking trash but i have to ask WHY?! UNM has won 9 of their last 10 games and won their 2nd staright conference tourney. they have great size and athleticism. an they have one of the best coaches in the country who for what it's wprth won't be around much longer. and with all due respect, they'd beat the griz handidly. i can see many match ups that benefit the griz but playing new mexico is not one of them...
I recall a game against a South Dakota State team this year that went into double overtime. This same SDSU team went into the pit and beat the Lobos. So to say that we will get beat easily is an overstatement. It would be a competitive game just like the last time they played. Frankly, I think we can play with just about any team in the country outside of the Big Ten. I think playing Arizona is realistic, and frankly if we can get hot we can compete. I see a 13 or 14 seed and a competitive game.

SDSU has an NBA guard who gets red hot from time to time and they are stronger inside then the griz are

New Mexico looked past SDSU and that was a mistake. They won't do that in the tourney

UCLA is probably around a 6 seed, no chance will they be a first round match up for UM

13 seed in SLC vs Big Ten

That's the right answer!!

I don't think a big Ten team is a good idea...i'd rather get Gonzaga or a Pac 12 team.

Gonzaga would kill UM...Griz have no answer for the Zags inside game

what do you think MSU, Michigan, Indiana, OSU or Wisconsin would do....Those teams will handle gonzaga.

You said that a PAC 12 or Gonzaga would be your choice....that has nothing to do with MSU, Michigan, Indiana, OSU or Wisconsin.

read my whole first quote....I'd RATHER follows a statement. meaning the following is preferable to the former.

Big Ten is akin to the SEC in football. Not a good matchup for the Griz this year, and I don't think anybody in the country is going to be happy to see a Big Ten team across from them in the first round. Doubt as many are as scared of gonzaga. Good? Yes, but no way in hell do they finish in the top five in the big ten this year.

Stubbins, first...you have no idea how Gonzaga would finish in the Big 10. Second, dumb argument, because Gonzaga would not be the same team if they were in the Big 10 from any perspective. Third, Gonzaga is a nightmare matchup for UM just like any possible Big 10 team. UM's best chance is to see a PAC 12 team. It does not matter how Gonzaga would have done in the Big 10 from UM's perspective.

14 vs New Mexico in Salt Lake.

UNM might move up to a 2 seed, 2nd best rpi, 2nd best conference... wouldn't mind if we didn't get them.

agreed...don't want UNM this year. MWC is tough. Gawd, wish we were in that league...

Charles Barkley just said the MWC is better then the BIG 10 this year on the CBS selection show. I do think New Mexico would be a top 2 program in Big 10 this year. With UNLV and CSU not far behind
