100%. I think there is a considerable number of fans who panic at the idea of coaching turnover, thus say, "I want someone who wants to retire here".I do not want this to become a program where coaches come to retire. That would be terrible for the program.
Every fan should want this program to be a stepping stone for football coaches. The expectation here is to win championships, and we need coaches with the drive to win championships with the potential to advance their career at bigger schools.
NDSU has perfected the stepping stone carousel. Montana could and should do the same, but we need to stop being afraid of hiring coaches that could leave 5 years down the road. Just like players leave, we reload. Same mindset should apply with our head coach.
