Pretty much. But the first game of the year vs. a top 10 rated BCS on the road vs. a year-ending home game against an FCS newbie that had to win a play-in game the week before, might differentiate slightly. Another difference was that Montana was able to rebound the following week with a 36-7 beatdown of SDSU without their QB and another run to the Semis, while MSU got to digest theirs for another 10 months.Jerry Punch said:kemajic said:17-7 in the third quarter. The D held up well until worn down by repeated Montana 3 and outs from new QB Swogger. Blowout came late with Iowa still trying for more at the gun. 41-7 in '06
So that's pretty much the same as MSU keeping it close with NDSU in Bozeman in 2010 until it turned into a blowout?

This -- much better than any games with FBS teams.griz4life said:What would be really cool, would be regular season home and home deals with

Delaware or William and Mary or Richmond
McNeese State or Sam Houston

Explaining and analyzing why a loss occurred is usually not an excuse for the loss (or shouldn't be), even though I've noticed Cat fans on egriz often have to jump into the discussions of the reasons for a loss to label it as an excuse or excuses.

So a loss is always the same? So then explain why a Griz loss on the road to an FBS opponent did not stop them from making it to the semi's and the Cat loss at home to NDSU did? Sounds different to me -- but then again I am not an MSU grad so...Jerry Punch said:PlayerRep said:While we're on this subject, there is a difference between an "excuse" for a loss and stating the reasons for a loss. No excuse. SHSU was just better than MSU both years. They physically outmatched them in every way. That's the reason they lost. It isn't an excuse because there is nothing MSU could have done to overpower SHSU absent a miracle from God. Most people, except for Chase Reynolds after Cat/Griz 2010, recognize that a loss is a loss no matter how you look at it.
Conflating? That's a pretty big word for you. Try this one: confused. Here is your quote:Jerry Punch said:You are conflating two different issues. When you lose in the playoffs, your season is over. When you lose to an FBS team in the first game of the season, your season is just getting started.
My point is that you either lose or you win in the FCS. There are no ifs, ands, or buts about it.
You equivocated the NDSU playoff loss to a season beginning Griz loss to Iowa. In case you didn't know Iowa is an FBS team by the way. I realize equivocation is your friend because it enables you to equate two pretty good years for the Bobcats to 20 years of Griz domination. Keep trying. And try not to contradict yourself. It looks foolish.Jerry Punch said:kemajic said:17-7 in the third quarter. The D held up well until worn down by repeated Montana 3 and outs from new QB Swogger. If you say so. I personally would much rather lose on the last possession in Boone than get humiliated at home by NAU. Or get railroaded by a Big Ten 10 team versus being curb stomped at home by NDSU. Or lose Cat Griz by 9 versus by 32.Jerry Punch said:You are conflating two different issues. You are all proving the point - there is always an excuse for a Griz loss but never one for the Cats. Just ask Chase Reynolds.

Oh, there's ALWAYS an excuse for cat losses. And it's simply this:
They're cats.
