What is the biggest need for next season?

We need to start recruiting Calgary (1,000,000 souls), Edmonton (750,000), Saskatchewan (1,000,000 for the province), Winnipeg (750,000); both Oliveira and Mason Bennett, two of UND's top players are from Winnipeg. To say nothing of BC with 1.5 million in the lower mainland.
I've often wondered about that. When I was working at UW, the best player on the Rose Bowl winning team was from Mississauga, Ontario. He was also an excellent student. UDub had others from Western Canada, as well. I think with Canadians, academics are the first order. Different systems. But, Montana has a very good "in" with Dave D.

Cost the Griz 3 games...

Need to invest in a 100 of these...

Just a thought. These are skill position data. Someone else can post line data but I believe this is the biggest difference between the 1990s and 2000s.

For what it is worth, Bill Kollar lived in the weight room while he was at MSU. Both he and Sam McCullum arrived at MSU as skinny freshmen in the early 70s. I recall Kollar would be in the weight room before all the ROTC cadets got there before 5:00 a.m. every morning.

There are some long linemen on the roster that it appears they can't bench 300 pounds. But I don't have access to the weight room data so what do I know? The late game screwups would and should be obvious to a lack of strength and conditioning. Especially to those who played the game like Mike Leach or...
Can’t believe nobody responded to your post. Those numbers from Alabama are frighteningly impressive. I believe you are on to something. Would be interested in the Oline’s numbers. I would love to see some mean and nasty guys in the trenches who just bury defenders. I remember watching three different plays yesterday where a Griz linemen was just downright beat like a rented mule. Very interested to see what happens in the off season.

The king of whiners. You even whine about the basketball team. Must be a lonely life living in front of that computer, with the mirror next to you, knowing when you look up - somebody gives a sh*t

The majority of my educational career was in the south and to watch the high school weight programs and look at the data, then one ought to look at the last play over and over to see why those fourth quarter leads were not sustainable. Not putting player uniform numbers up here for obvious reasons but given the length of those linemen in last years recruiting class, one year will not be enough time to get a kid strong enough or in condition to play an entire 60 minutes offense with over 80 offensive plays a game. We would not expect an elite military unit to sustain that intensity nor should we think an 18 to 22 year old kid can be that developed to play a football game with the same intensity that number of plays requires.

I believe there will be several J.C. linemen signed next month in the early signing period. Would be interesting to see if a couple of running backs might consider transferring from Athens as Smart has kind of a stranglehold and monopoly of backs in that area.

The Montana Super Bowl is going to be interesting to watch the next few years because both Coach Hauck and Choate have the same philosophy it appears to me as both Saban and Smart have as to what a football game is supposed to be.

I'll give you four:

1) A multi-million dollar state of the art training facility to attract the best student-athletes
2) A head coach who really understands the culture and importance of Montana football
3) A catchy slogan that communicates trajectory, something like "Return to Dominance"
4) A favorable schedule with no games against Weber, EWU, or non-conference top 10 teams

If we can get those four things figured out, watch out.
