What is it with this team in the first quarter?

A real head scratcher. The Griz just can't manage a good first quarter yet again. And yet, again lead by halftime. And it is not any one thing that hurts them. CH had not thrown an interception and then throws two. Knight has fumbled before but is not a chronic fumbler. Still hard to complain when they only allow 7 points in the remaining 3 quarters. Imagine what the score might be if they could actually have a good first 15 minutes?

Imagine how disheartening it must be for a team like Idaho to be +3 in TO margin going into halftime, more yards, etc., and still be down 14-10.

We cannot afford to spot Weber 10-14 points and win next weekend. They will not cave like the last couple of teams. I give the entire Griz team credit for totally kicking ass in the second half in all those games but damn.....my heart. Weber looked beatable today but as they showed, it will take a complete 60 minutes with few turnovers.

Despite the 'errors', I think anyone could see this team felt they had the game in hand. I didn't feel the slightest angst in the first quarter.

As long as it’s the first quarter and not the fourth like last year I don’t have as big of a problem with it.

Agreed. But the GRIZ simply cannot continue to do that against good teams. That first quarter was a cluster-fuck of self-induced wounds. They were fortunate to be playing a team who is completely undisciplined today, and couldn't take advantage of the sloppy play.

What worries me is what a trend it has become.
