What is everyone doing to hunker down and where?

The irony is that the steps being taken WILL absolutely and greatly lessen the impact of the virus, and then all of the tinfoil hatters will yell about how they knew the entire thing was a scam.

From our former babysitter: "Three hours into home schooling, and one kid already in trouble for not coming to school, and other suspended for disciplinary reasons."

No one doubts that the overall actions will decrease the spread, to at least varying degrees.

However, the main and real issue is whether ALL of the actions are necessary or helpful, and whether what the actions accomplish will be worth the havoc played on world economy, US economy, and markets, including bankruptcies, increased poverty, negative impacts on young kids, budget crises, etc. There will be positives for older people, but there will also be negatives too (loneliness, depression, other health issues and even death).

Have to use both sides of the ass wipe now. (Every little bit helps.)

All we need now is, I would hate to see a diarrhea Virus breakout, people would buy all the nasal Spray!

My son was suppose to have chest surgery in Kalispell this Wednesday, but they canceled it and are going to reschedule hopefully in a couple weeks, so we drove back to Bozeman today. He has been waiting for about a month for the surgery, and is in a TON of pain, but I guess it isnt "Life threatening" so he is SOL.

Why cancel a surgery on Wed, on Mon, when there are probably zero C patients at the hospital? Why not tell him that it will have to be postponed if they get busy. This question is not directed at you.

I can tell you that Providence in Spokane has cancelled all elective and non-emergency surgeries.

To expand on this, the biggest reason for cancellation of non-emergency surgery is the shortage of some medical supplies available.

I live out in the epicenter of Seattle outbreak, and my employer has asked me to work from home and the local school district is closed until April 27th at the earliest.

Local grocery stores are doing a really good job and the local community has been very calm.

Everyone is pretty much doing their part, although the kids aren't doing a good job of social distancing. Keep seeing roving bands of kids throughout the area.

It's certainly a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation. I don't think anyone will dispute that.

I get why they did it, and we will get through it, but it was a major blow to the young man. He has missed about 2 months of school because his ribs are tilted so bad, that it is turning his spine (He has sunken chest, and it is pushing on his heart and his lungs). On top of that, no doctor in Bozeman ever tested him for asthma, until he went to Billings and they told him he has that as well... He has just gone through a lot and he could see the light at the end of the tunnel, and now has to wait, while still in major pain. It wasn't that bad until he grew about 6" in a month, and that pushed everything in even more ( BOOM Phrasing... That's what she said)...

Entire oil/gas industry starting to shut down. Can’t drill for profit when oil is under $40/barrel, even then the margins are thin. This is the result of 1. Demand for oil falling 2. Saudis and Russians flooding markets. Russians want put US shale producers out of business so they refused cuts.

My first pad has about 6 weeks of work left, then I would guess lay off. I don’t see market returning until 4th quarter at best.

Probably at least 400,000 directly will lose jobs, not including impact and loss revenue to businesses in hundreds of cities and towns.

It'll be sooner than 4th quarter. :thumb:

what this dude said. can't wait to hear all about how they were right all along.

Finished setting up to work from home for the next 1 1/2 weeks. Computer access verified, phone forwarded, everything will be just as if I was at work except starting tomorrow I'll have a 140 lb dog laying at my feet....We always have at least a month or two worth of food on the shelves and freezer full of meat so as long as the power doesn't go out we'll be eating..Arranged a "mini" support group with the neighbors to help anyone who is short on something. Creek has water so we can flush the toilets no matter what.....

Still have all the ammo I stock piled for the year 2000 excitement so all set there as well! ;)

Maybe one more stop at the liquor store though......

Been retired for almost the last 9 years, so it's business as usual here, except can't go have a beer at the local watering holes. Guess I'll have to have some of my own stock!

Underrated comment. Solid work.

Our cleaning lady texted today to say she was working from home, and would send a list of some things she’d like us to do.

Business as usual for now. Only thing that seems to be in short supply right now is TP, but I buy in bulk anyways so was well stocked up.

I had an idea some of this was coming, so had been stocking up slowly on Lysol, Got the freezer full, plenty of dog food, coffee and enough bacon to last a month

Definitely keep the pooches fed as a fallback food source. Dog tastes pretty good, or atleast it did in Thailand anyway...maybe the Thais just know how to prepare it better than most.
