What Griz need to accomplish to make playoffs

This Griz team is not a playoff worthy team. I don’t even think we should think it’s a consideration.
There would need to be a wholesale change by coaches and players alike for that to happen.
IF Bobby wants to be here next year, which I don’t believe he does, he should start cutting coaches now! Show he is all in on this program. If he not willing to do that.. Then Kent should cut Bobby before the mid of the season and promote Justin Green as interim coach. This way maybe we do a national search and start judging people interest.

I compared two teams: Ferris and Stetson. Do you think Stetson is better than Ferris? Let's hear your answer big boy. God, you are stupid.
Doesn't matter who you think is better. Stetson is a counter win, ferris isn't. That was an idiotic game to schedule. Especially when you also had butler on the schedule. Gave no wiggle room to lose a game like last week. Now they need to beat a top 10 team to make it. Doubtful. If you're relying on 6 D1 wins with the best being at UC Davis, plus a 7 point win over Ferris as your playoffs resume, not happening. That's assuming they can win at Davis next week, which is nothing better than a pick 'em proposition. The NAU game used up all of their runway.

Ferris as a 7th D1 win may or may not keep UM out of the playoffs. Look at the criteria for playoff selection. 6 D1 teams have been selected on occasion in the past.

That's fair. But i don't think so with butler on there as well and no marquee win.

It’s a sad state of the program when that’s what we’re leaning on to get into the playoffs.

Great topic…since Montana is such a lousy team I’m hoping teams look past them.
Anyway let’s see if we can get the running game clicking, control the clock and win tomorrow. That’s really all that matters right now.

Go Griz!

The way so many people on here have put this team down, why would you want them to be in playoffs anyway? The token one and done at home game excites you I guess? I believe this team will right the ship and go no worse than 8-3 and deep in the playoffs!

Did you listen to Andrew Schmidt talk about how Bobby's gotten soft and there are very few starters on the 2023 griz team that wouls have even seen the field back in the day when he played, and the griz were good? Does that not alarm you? Or do you think the ex griz player is full of S H I T, or lying?

Colter said the same thing on the Big Sky breakdown - the Griz just don't have the talent they need in order to compete at the level everyone expects. It IS alarming, and points to a failure of recruiting.

I always love listening to Schmidt's perspective, but I also believe there is an element of "back in my day" involved. It's natural. We all do it to some extent. I catch myself thinking kids have it easy with online textbooks and taking exams on computers and that they'd never make it if they had to go to the library to study and write exams in bluebooks. That kind of stuff.

Kem probably thinks I'd never make it if I had to chisel the exam into stone tablets like he did. ;)

Ferris is not and does not count as a D1 win. You need to move away from that. The criteria looks at:

Overall record
Record against Division I opponents (an institution with fewer than six Division I wins may place that team in jeopardy of not being selected)
Record against opponents from other AQ conferences
Record against Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) opponents (to your point earlier about scheduling D2 vs D1.
Head-to-head record
Record against common opponents
NCAA Simple Rating System (NCAA SRS) Data
FCS Coaches Poll (this is a shame because I think this poll is pitiful on so many levels).
Input from regional advisory committees

Now, to your point, 6 D1 wins could do it…. The FCS is very watered down, in fact it helped UM eek in last fall. That and they can grease the pockets of the FCS. UCD was the snub of 2022.

Look at the first criteria. “Overall record”. Ferris was a win against a good team. Why do you ignore the cert first criteria?

Everyone agrees Ferris isn’t a D1 win. And you just admitted that 7 D1 wins isn’t mandatory. This is what I have said all along. What’s the point of arguing with me, when we apparently agree on the basic points?

This is why you have to take what PR/Hoops, Aka "I've played the game" says with a grain of salt. Did he play the game? Yes. Did he play the game 40 years before any current Griz player was born. Also yes.

Did you ever play the game? Answer: No.

Argh! Hit a nerve, with that keyword, BLUEBOOKS!
I remember my first quarter of college, and asking, 'What's a Bluebook?' I learned fast.
