What defense will we run this season?

My understanding it's going to be a Multiple Defense with different fronts and alignments probably dependent on opposing Offenses, down and distance. Hopefully a much easier scheme as with the way the transfer portal is nowadays something that can be easy to teach a bunch of new players.
Not sure you can put “multiple defense with different fronts and alignments depending upon opposing offenses, down and distance” and “much easier scheme” together. We seem to be shooting for a “jack of all trades, master of none” style of defense.

Meanwhile the neighbors down the road run a base 4–2-5 with a 3 page “playbook” and win National championships with it. They’re shooting for “master what we do”, apparently.

Not crapping on anything you said btw, I know you’re only repeating what has been said by the staff so please don’t take it that way.

Hobbs and Colter. Gillman, Dickenson. I’ve known Dave since he was in high school. I know Craig too. Posted from Split, Croatia.
How is Split??? Croatia and the Dalmatian Coast are on my bucket list for travel. Personally I want to start in Trieste and go down. I’d love to do laps on both sides of the Adriatic.

As for the rest, staying out of it. I’m excited to see the Griz in Corvallis, though! You going or are you still traveling when the season comes?

Split was surprisingly good and fun. Whole coast is great. About day 30. In Saranda, Albania. Very affordable. Home soon. I don’t go to the fbs games generally. Iowa on charter and UW. Do your laps. Huge fun and interesting.

There were probably 2 sacks that led to 3 and 20. The 3-3-5 thrives on creating chaos that often leads to more sacks compared to other defensive alignments.
I’d rather be in a 3rd and 5 situation and get off the field by forcing a punt than get a couple sacks to get to a 3rd and 20 situation and then proceed to allow an 85 yard TD to put the game on ice. Thats just me though. That play by the way wasn’t the only time that the defense had opponents in a 3rd and forever only to give up a loooooooong completion to move the chains.
