Lots of Cat fans projecting their hopes in this thread.

Actually not at all! In a perfect world, a kid could go through any trauma like this and it not leave a mark on the soul. But, this kid is not superman, and really has big issues to sort through before anything of a football game becomes number one the "to do list". Having worked with people who have faced this kind of stuff I am far more of a realist than I am a "wish upon a star".

If you are in fact thinking I am somewhat afraid of seeing him on the football field against the Cats this year, the answer is yes and no. Yes, I don't know if this is the time or the place to even be thinking about football for him. No, I don't think any QB you put on the field in the fall will beat the Cats. So, even though you may not believe it, I think the bigger issue has really NOTHING to do with football.

What JJ likely needs right now is normalcy, support, structure, routine and goals. Can't think of a better place for that for him than being reinstated to the Montana footbal team.

Fair enough.

Although we've seen ample amounts of evidence that he plans on picking up where he left off.

I think I inferred that you were saying what he should be doing, instead of what you think he would do. There have been way too many people saying what he should be doing, a larger number of those people being Cat fans. My post was mostly a joke, anyways.

However, even if you're (or anybody is) saying what you would do if you were him, remember that you're not him, and he's shown every indication that he wants to return to doing what's "normal" to him (this was part of his and his dad's testimony), which is playing football for the University of Montana.

So even after he posts "#10's back" on Facebook, and Delaney assures a poster that JJ will more than likely be back (because I'm sure he's talked to him about it by now), and we get the uncle saying his intentions, when you (or anybody) come back saying "Well, now, hold on just a minute, he might want to take things slow and settle down and not worry about football at all right now," it sounds like you're projecting something that's demonstrably untrue.

And I made a joke about that. 8-)

And to address your "No" part, I look forward to him showing again that he's a better QB than McGhee. :coffee:

Ahh, and I should add that I'm not guaranteeing he will come back. Only about his intentions.

I have no idea what they're going to say in terms of the honor court and the appeal and all that. :?

If I had to guess, I'd say they grant his appeal. I think this town would go a little nuts if he wasn't allowed on the team again.

Your post might be very relevant for the majority of citizens in the US. The old noodle (I am referring the the one upstairs) can cause some serious issues that take time to work through for most people. I don't think this necessarily applies to JJ though. #1 He had huge amounts of family support. #2. He had a huge support network in Missoula that backed him all along. This included fans, teammates and coaches. #3. This guy is not your usual citizen and being able to compete and defeat are what he has lived for the majority of his young life. I think JJ will be just fine. We are not even in spring ball yet, so he has time to sort through any issues. Now - as far as next season goes? If our HC stays out of the way - I am damn confident a beat down by the Griz will be administered in your stadium. Given your teams performance last year against the weakest Griz team in decades, I am not sure why you even dared to bring this topic up.
