This isn't BYU. There's no code of conduct regarding consensual sex. My feelings about JJ returning are simple...... Bring it!

My guess is that if Herd is ever accused of something he didn't do he might change his philosophy of fairness. If he really believes one should be shunned by society for the rest of his life for an accusation that never occurred he is one strange dude.

Knew a woman who threatened a rape charge because her neighbor's dog wouldn't quit barking.
should he move?

Ok, the guy has been acquitted, but come on about a return to the team. The program is way more important than one guy, I don't care who he is. Even being put in the situation of being acused of a crime that significant is a major violation of any reasonable code of conduct.

I don't care if its Brock Jensen coming off of 2 titles, I certainly wouldn't want to put the guy back on my team. It should be about the university and about football. If he is back on the team, it will never be about football, and the team will have continual cloud hanging over it. If I'm the AD and Pres, no way I reinstate a guy in this situation. IMO, it's not Johnson's choice . . . he has not earned the right to continue athletics at Montana based on his conduct and the problems his behavior have caused to the university.

So....if one guy gets in trouble and is found not guilty at trial he's not more important than the team. But if say 10 players get into legal trouble for say, oh I don't know....election fraud and plead guilty than they should be welcomed back with open arms.
Answer the f*ing question Herd, instead of lobbying to protect NDSU's current power position.

if it's fully in his heart to be a Griz after all that, then hell yes!! At this point however, I am happy he (as i would be with ANYONE) that justice was served and whatever direction Jordy goes in life will be one hundred percent fine with me :thumb:

So you're saying, in effect, that any football player who has sex during his four years of college " has not earned the right to continue athletics." I assume you think this rather high bar should apply to North Dakota State, as well as Montana? That is completely ludicrous. The man was found to be innocent. "Not guilty" means innocent - the legal terminology is "innocent until proven guilty."

Being accused of a crime that egregious is a big deal, period. Did the case get dismissed, or did it actually go to trial? It went to trial, meaning there was significant substance requiring a jury trial. So, you are saying that an acquittal washes his hands clean, and he walks over to equipment checkout for the football team? You are way off base.

If you think that you or I would be able to keep a job in this same situation, or a college athlete should be able to keep a scholarship or be allowed the privilege to once again complete after this situation, then are not living in the real world. Acquittal is a small victory, but he already lost the war when the case was handed over for a jury trial. If you think the next step is reinstatement at Montana, I'd say think again. Maybe he would be afforded a clean start somewhere else. This has happened many times in the past.

You are a hypocrite given the woes of your own team. It is you who is not living in the real world. Please - your glass house is shattering around your feet and yet you continue with this pointless argument. JJ can and likely will appeal. If he wins - he can come back onto the team. The fans will embrace him, opponents will despise him and the image of the University will be just fine. Just like the image of your University is - even after some very unethical things have occurred. Why - because kids do some very stupid sh*t. Deal with it

Appeal what? Didn't he just get acquitted? :thumb: :thumb: He could make a request to the university to be reinstated for athletics, if that's what you mean. If a given university has any principles, I would expect that to be denied due to its code of conduct.

I am simply expressing my opinion, and it would not be any difference if I was talking about UConn, Hawaii or any other school. I would expect that the university would cut its athletic ties in this case, regardless of the trial outcome.

And . . . I would expects fans to react as you are reacting (wanting the player back on your team), setting themselves up for a hugely disappointing outcome, and lashing out at the university administration when the player is not allowed to return. Fan attitudes don't change how the university needs to handle this situation. If you want to put a wager on how this turns out, let me know.

Again, I don't have anything against the young man involved. And yes, he is basically a victim of circumstance, although you have to hold him accountable for his role in the escalation of this situation. I truly wish him the best, this situation is tragic. But, the university needs to do the right thing for UM IMO.

Let him back, if he wants to play. I view this just like Jimmy Wilson's case - acquittal of charges and he's a free man and welcome to be a Griz.

Thank you Pflu and Jimmy O for starting that support. I've said it all along...if I was JJ, the only thing I'd be looking forward to is playing well on Saturday, and delivering fuck stick Royce's paper on Sunday...

Herd, you are way off point. You are saying that JJ should be banned from playing because he had a consensual one night stand. If that were the case, I doubt that your Herd would be able to field a team.

Jordy Johnson defied all odds. A team consisting of Main Hall, Dean of Pharm, media, DOJ, pro bono lawyers, Missoula County, and a midnight thug comment, and the truth seems to have prevailed. I would welcome him back in a heart beat. He, of all the people involved stood tall and took it on the chin like a man just like he does on a football field. If he can take the scrutiny I sure the heck can. I would be the first to stand and applaud this young man win, lose or draw and ignore the snide comments. Personally I will pray he makes the right decision for himself and his family. God's Speed.

Go Griz!!

Dear Herd,
Sometimes I do not correctly interpret the written word, as it was intended by the writer, so I will ask for clarification on your following words...
"And . . . I would expects fans to react as you are reacting (wanting the player back on your team), setting themselves up for a hugely disappointing outcome, and lashing out at the university administration when the player is not allowed to return. Fan attitudes don't change how the university needs to handle this situation. If you want to put a wager on how this turns out, let me know."

Now , if I understand this correctly, and if I'm included, I have an extra $1000.00 that I would like to enter the "game " with. If I'm eligible, please explain more clearly the rules. Respectfully submitted....

To me this is a no brainer. If he wants to play, which he does, he is back. Once a GRIZ, always a GRIZ.

JJ, his family, the accuser, and her family have been through hell and back. Enough of the hell, time to let them heal. I feel all of them have been victimized by a very messed up system. Someone within Missoula's legal community should have had the brass balls to put this to rest well before the trial. This should have never gone to trial.

I want to know if anyone had the heart and professionalism to honestly tell this girl, there was not enough there to get a conviction? With money wasted on the case, did anyone even consider having impartial outside parties review this case, and give their opinions? I feel that would have been much wiser.

Honestly too God, with what we seen presented by the prosecution, who honestly thinks this case should have gone to trial? I am sorry, and not trying to turn this into a heated argument, but I really question if any ethics and morals were used in this case from the beginning? I also question the professionalism within the Missoula County legal process, and the President of U of M. He had a wide open door after the trial to start the healing, but his ego got in the way, and made himself look worse

The system raked two young adults, and their families, through hell. These people will never get back this time. Someone gave Jane Doe very bad advise, or she refused to listen. Who was trying to gain what professionally? Not only did the prosecution get their ass handed to them, but it looks like this case likely will have sunk FVV, and the judge, when all is said and done. I have never seen or heard of a judge come off more unprofessional and more biased. This judge had an apparent agenda, and it was made known by her actions this whole time. As for FVV, I can actually rationalize in the pressure and scrutiny he was under to bring this to trial.

Professionally, I don't know how this case will impact the prosecuting lawyers, but what they presented sure in the hell was a joke to tax payer money. Then again, maybe they too were also working with a short deck from the get go.

Let JJ play football!!!!

Thanks for posting that... :thumb:

It should have gone to trial, there would have been NO resolution EVER if it had not. Bad decisions got him there but that does not mean he can not or will not make better ones in the future. It may not be BYU but I'm reasonably certain the issue has been addressed with the the teams. They have too much to lose.

But we all have to understand one other thing. This has only resolved things for Jordy (and yes he should be welcomed back) The shitstorm started long before his incident.

I picked yes. (Is this a feeling?) Regarding my feelings about JJ, My feeling about Jordon Johnson are similar to how I feel about Michael Jackson. Jordon Johnson is one hell of a good quarterback and I enjoy watching him on the field. Michael Jackson was one hell of a musician an entertainer and I love watching his concerts and listening to his music.

..First. I am glad justice prevailed. I hope a young man and his family can one day soon return to some kind of nomal life.

Second. We can all speculate on what JJ will do, I think it would be wise to wait then support whatever decision he makes. Could anyone blame him if he decided to move on? I can't imagine many of the posters here being public figures. So as much as each of us want to think we know what we would do . I think it would be impossible to realy say. Have you had your name dragged through the mud before? I understand he was aquitted. Not guilty. But This kid owes this school, this town nothing. Coming back to run out of the tunnel proves what?

I understand that Griz fans would love to see him back. 90 percent will wish him well whatever he does. I just don't see any reason why Johnson would want to spend another minute in Missoula if given the opportunity to start over somewhere else.

Herd you might be the biggest douche canoe ever.
He was found not guilty. JJ getting back on the football field is one of the most important things that can happen in the healing process of the football team, the university and the community. I am hopeful he stays and even more hopeful that the wounds will heal.

Herd,

While I respect your ability to voice an opinion, your logic is way off. Johnson was found NOT GUILTY of the crime. That means that the jury felt as though he DID NOT commit the crime. As opposed to being found not guilty, how about those 10 NDSU players that were found GUILTY of election signature fraud? Did this shine their school in a positive light? I remember their coach saying the charge wasn't serious enough to warrant suspension. I guess getting paid for a job you cheat to complete isn't serious. Now, before you say rape and signature fraud are two different things, remember, Johnson was found NOT GUILTY and the NDSU players were found GUILTY. I hope for your sake you are never accused of something you didn't do, because by your logic, even if you are innocent, you should be treated as if you are guilty. Go Griz.
