Answer the f*ing question Herd, instead of lobbying to protect NDSU's current power position.Ursa Major said:Herd said:Ok, the guy has been acquitted, but come on about a return to the team. The program is way more important than one guy, I don't care who he is. Even being put in the situation of being acused of a crime that significant is a major violation of any reasonable code of conduct.
I don't care if its Brock Jensen coming off of 2 titles, I certainly wouldn't want to put the guy back on my team. It should be about the university and about football. If he is back on the team, it will never be about football, and the team will have continual cloud hanging over it. If I'm the AD and Pres, no way I reinstate a guy in this situation. IMO, it's not Johnson's choice . . . he has not earned the right to continue athletics at Montana based on his conduct and the problems his behavior have caused to the university.
So....if one guy gets in trouble and is found not guilty at trial he's not more important than the team. But if say 10 players get into legal trouble for say, oh I don't know....election fraud and plead guilty than they should be welcomed back with open arms.

So you're saying, in effect, that any football player who has sex during his four years of college " has not earned the right to continue athletics." I assume you think this rather high bar should apply to North Dakota State, as well as Montana? That is completely ludicrous. The man was found to be innocent. "Not guilty" means innocent - the legal terminology is "innocent until proven guilty."
Being accused of a crime that egregious is a big deal, period. Did the case get dismissed, or did it actually go to trial? It went to trial, meaning there was significant substance requiring a jury trial. So, you are saying that an acquittal washes his hands clean, and he walks over to equipment checkout for the football team? You are way off base.
If you think that you or I would be able to keep a job in this same situation, or a college athlete should be able to keep a scholarship or be allowed the privilege to once again complete after this situation, then are not living in the real world. Acquittal is a small victory, but he already lost the war when the case was handed over for a jury trial. If you think the next step is reinstatement at Montana, I'd say think again. Maybe he would be afforded a clean start somewhere else. This has happened many times in the past.
You are a hypocrite given the woes of your own team. It is you who is not living in the real world. Please - your glass house is shattering around your feet and yet you continue with this pointless argument. JJ can and likely will appeal. If he wins - he can come back onto the team. The fans will embrace him, opponents will despise him and the image of the University will be just fine. Just like the image of your University is - even after some very unethical things have occurred. Why - because kids do some very stupid sh*t. Deal with it
