West Florida joining the UAC in 2026 - just a brief stopover on the way to the FBS?

No, but one of the arguments was a team missing out because they might lose to a transitioning team. Seems like a comparable argument to that viewpoint. I still don't see an issue with making a school meet the requirements prior to being eligible for the post season. If you want to argue that the requirements may be excessive, than I would probably agree. But how arbitrary do you want the eligibility requirements to be?
I think I see the confusion. I'm saying make them play DII (playoff eligible) until they meet DI requirements. They don't compete in a DI season until DI eligible. Then, they move up and are immediately playoff eligible.

As for a DI team choosing to schedule a DII team, go for it. We've all had opinions for years about how that looks on a playoff resume.

Then we should probably let FCS teams that decide to transition eligible for the post season also.

No. We're seeking the logical reason behind a playoff ban. So far, we have, "the teams know the rule going in, division hopping, and meeting more stringent requirements." Knowing a rule doesn't justify/provide a valid reason for that rule.

If there is a law that says everyone has to break dance crossing the street, and the reason provided is that we don't want to allow lizards to become accountants, it doesn't justify the law.
So there is no logic is making sure that the school meets the minimum requirements?

You nailed it! Fuck yeah, homie!
The thing you overlook, is no program that is making the financial decision to transition up is going to sit still for 2-3 years at the current level without pumping finances into the athletic program in an effort to be ready when the transition period is over. No school would take the path of staying under the current level ceiling for a few years of post season.

I think I found another source of confusion. I'm basically saying, "no transition period." Get your program next-level compliant, stay below the athletic aid ceiling at the current level, move up when you get your shot, and be immediately eligible at that level, including the postseason. You can be next-level compliant even if you're at a lower level. Here this is again for reference:

Yes, FCS teams should also be FBS Playoff eligible when they move up. Like with JMU a few years ago.
I think he meant FCS playoff eligible after they decide to move up. I say as long as they don't exceed FCS ceilings until they actually do move up, fine. Basically, take everything I've said about DII->FCS and apply it to FCS->FBS.

See, I think a postseason ban is fine until compliant. I believe the 3 years is too arbitrary and if a school is compliant sooner, then they should be eligible for postseason.

See, I think an all-out ban on any season of competition at the next level until compliant makes more sense.

So you want a school to delay making improvements.
