I have a friend that lives in Bozo, and he had the mini Griz logos over his taillights. He went to have dinner downtown, and both of them were broken out when he returned. Not cheap!!

Always upsetting to hear abt any form of vandalism/poor sportsmanship. Kudos to Alpha on his handling of this incident.

Here I'm thinking Alpha's a patriot, and I see this shit?! Foreign car, eh?

Ha! Well, if it's of any consolation to you, it was assembled in either Georgetown, KY or Lafayette, IN.
Partially made in America. :thumb:

FIFY

Nah... that goes for ANY car made here.

ALPHA, that sucks period!! But your attitude towards it is first class.

BOTTOM LINE folks, this happens at BOTH STADIUMS. PERIOD. THE END. Anyone who tries to say any one stadium treats the other better is a liar. ON the flip side, I won't lump either fanbase into this crap because the people who do these things are such a small percentage in my opinion. Hammer, i can echo your experiences in the tailgates at Bozeman, but the things i have shouted at me are ALWAYS from students and perhaps even high school kids. IN all my years of going to Griz/Cat in Bozeman, which was where i saw my first game ironically, I have had nothing but great experiences as it pertains to the ADULT MSU fans. The student section would be a different story I'm sure but I don't go near it anyway so who really cares how the kids act. I'm fairly positive UM students are just as bad on Griz/Cat day because a long time ago I was one and I have a foggy recolection of what it was like.

Again, this whole thing of who's fans treat who's fans better is nothing but a WASH!! The good, the bad and sometimes dispicable happens in both Bozeman AND Missoula and everyone on this board knows it.

I saw over on the Bobcat board that a bunch are talking about starting a pool to help pay for the damages inflicted on AG1's vehicle. Pretty classy gesture :twocents:

Havgrizfan, your are 100% spot on! There are a few troublemakers at every stadium. It usually comes from the student section. And, I agree, everyone knows it!

It sounds like most people have anecdotal stories of how poorly they were treated in opposing cities. I for one think that carving something like that is unacceptable, immature, and gives all Cat fans a bad name. Alpha is a big time Griz homer but he is also one of the best posters on Egriz AND on BN as well. He doesn't sugar coat anything, doesn't care about being politically correct, and tells it how he sees it. Cat fans by and large are better than this and I'm sorry this happened, Alpha.

That being said, don't pigeon-hole all of us into that role of being bad fans. Some of my best friends are Griz fans. If that's their only flaw, then I should count myself lucky. But I still see this as one more drop in the awesome debate that started with 1) which team is better after playing one game and 2) which team's fans are the worst. The usual dick-pumpers are still out saying their normal stuff. Vandalizing a car doesn't change any of it.

In my not so limited experience (and I am not a big time Griz homer), while there is bad and inappropriate behavior by some in both fan bases, I think there has been more bad and inappropriate behavior in the Cat fan base and in Bozeman. There are more anecdotal examples. There seem to be more UM fans who have stopped going to games in Bozeman, than vice versa. My theory is that the Griz dominated the rivalry for so long, that some Cat fans, mainly Cat students and recent grads, started taking out their frustrations (or expressing their exuberance in the occasional wins) on UM fans. Now that the Cats have made a resurgence in football and have beaten UM in some games, maybe the rivalry will tone itself down a notch or two--on both sides. That extra notch or two of the rivalry is neither pleasant nor healthy, in my view.

Bobcat fans, particularly Bobcat students, hate the Griz WAY WAY more than Griz fans and students hate the Bobcats. People who disagree or think its about even are LYING to themselves.

I am sure you have the data to back up this position, or else we could just chalk it up to you having an opinion on the matter much like everyone else does.

He's right. You are wrong. The Cat's have an inferiority complex that exceeds logic and they have way worse fans. Even my buddies who are Cat grads agree with me on this.

Nice try. You have proved that you are a follower and you copy everything Griz faithful say and do...verbatim.

Yeah, I love the competitiveness of the two programs and whether anyone
wants to admit it one would be absolutely miserable without the other. Having
said that, vandalism and any intimidating behavior against another teams fans
is disgusting. That's why we offered to pay for the damage to Alpha's car. Alpha
showed a lot of class as do many of the Griz fans. He politely said he appreciated
the offer but would take care of it himself so we settled for supplying him with
some PBR's at the tailgate in November. :thumb:

I haven't gone to prison yet. Too soon? :thumb:

To this perp, the carver of hoods:
I know this film is before your time, but check out "Full Metal Jacket." You won't have to watch long to see the scene from which I am quoting.
"Gunnery Sergeant Hartman: Bullshit. It looks to me like the best part of you ran down the crack of your mama's ass and ended up as a brown stain on the mattress."
Bet your parents are happy to get rid of you for nine months.

All kinds of fans on both sides and most fairly respectful to others....but these stories of vandalism, spitting on any fans, bizarre behavior at tailgates (mature adults spewing insults at Griz fans for just being at the game!) seem more concentrated in Bozeman. Some Cats on here seem pretty offended........but who's going to do a little self policing? Those little old ladies that hurl vulgar insults themselves?

They've carved on cars, spit on cars, slashed tires, painted Beachliner buses, etc. I know some of those things have probably happened in Missoula...but carving a car the first game of the year when someone with Griz plates happens to be there to watch them play Monmouth State?

You Cat fans have earned your collective place in the "class" rankings and it's not #2 or #3.........

Sure there are more stories about the Cats, look at where you are getting your information.
