Looking at the stats, have to say Griz win the game. More offensive yards, equal time of possession, no backs for CP over 100, and held them to way under their season average on offense, yet lost the game. Two turnovers deep in our own end - that was the game.

Encouraged by the offense. Disappointed in one-on-one pass coverage - especially by the safeties.

We should be 5-1 by the time we hit the road again. If CP keeps playing like this, they will be tough to beat this year.

Personally, I was proud of the Griz for overcoming those turnovers that gave CP 2 short field TDS. They showed grit.

They followed them up with a 5+ min, 17-play TD drive. Very good offensively today. Yes, turnovers hurt.

They'll put it together as the season goes along...complete games by both the O and the D, and not many teams will beat them. Gotta start next week, and get on a roll through the rest of the conference.

Disappointed in Semore and the D today for sure.

Cal Poly has been on the opposite side of that more than a few times against the Griz. Great game. I am always impressed with a Griz fans at the game win or lose. Class fans and a great program. Best of luck to the Griz the rest of the season.

We defended the run better than any team they've played so far, but those big pass plays just killed us.

I thought that was supposed to be a Gregorak defense thing...

Without turnovers we win. Gotta take care of ball.

Agree. Brady's two turnovers in their own red zone lost this game for the Griz. Got to avoid turnovers to win!

I don't agree that they were Brady's fault. A tipped pass was picked and a blind side hit as he was throwing caused the fumble. I'd put that on the Oline.

I am thinking we need to make improvement before we play NAU and EWU.
The fumble was on Brady. He needs to adjust his protection, which he did not do that play

They didn't go down field enough IMO. It worked a couple times with the number of short pass plays. JLM's first 8 catches went for 120 yards. The next 13 receptions netted 35 yards. They had the deeper pass plays perfectly set up. Stitt needs to quit playing to lose once they get the lead in the 4th.

First, I am not sure the OL can give Gus enough time to look deep often and secondly, Gus has a lot of control with his checks.
Well they need to figure it out because they can't rely on JLM's shiftiness. Once CP zeroed in on him, he averaged under 3 yds/reception. That's not a recipe for a deep playoff run.

Look. Poly won the Super Bowl...or at least you would think it watching the celebration.
They won it the last three times we played and 4 of the last 6. You would think it would not be that special anymore.
The mind truly boggles

Can you guys at least try to finish with 8+ wins this time so we can explain this one? Seriously

The real knife in the heart was when Prothero slipped out for that long TD on 3rd and 10. Complete breakdown in coverage.

The other issue is that Gus spent a considerable amount of time on his backside. Not being able to consistently run the ball to keep defenders honest is a killer. O Line needs better blocking in both facets of offense. Brady's fumble was on the O Line. The short passes that we all hate are the result of Gus not getting enough time for the down field routs. Most of the consistency issues come back to the line.

So you don't think the 26 other completions count?

Well, of their last 17 games, Cal Poly's 42 points is the third highest ever achieved against any defense they have played, conference and non-conference.

A victory over montana is no longer a team's super bowl (except MSU's) That Montana left the scene years ago. Only in some Montana fans distorted senses by living in the past. I would say that ended soon after Bobby left

I disagree that the fumble falls on the OL. Go and re-watch the play. Poly overloaded a blitzed multiples from the outside. The back took one and the outside guy made the play. Gus needs to recognize that. The Poly guy made a good play.

Obviously they do, I never said they didn't. But if you're going to target JLM, the obvious #1 receiver, bubble screen after bubble screen and the defense is sniffing it out, they might try to get the defense to bite and go over the top.

So is that on Stitt or Gus?

Stitt lost that one. Second to last series he was coaching "coaching not to lose" rather than "coaching to win" that conservative pay calling will come back to bite a team in the ass most times..... Bad coaching...

Can either of you say for certain that Gus didn't check to any of those plays?

As much as I hate to lose. I'm
Not that disappointed after this loss. I don't know why but I'm not. Offense looked decent and our defense looked good again against a really really weird offense to defend. Idk. I think we're still pretty good. Got beat on the road by a triple option team. Mehh
