Can one of the more enlightened posters here tell me what's going on in Ogden? I had to read the recap from last night's game twice. Losing at home to Utah State 77 - 71, 0-3 to start? I see that they shot poorly from the 3 (4-12)and got out rebounded (33-29), but still, what happened and is this a sign of things to come? What were the other two games they lost? I'm not saying Utah State should have been a gimme, but its one they should have taken. Or should they?

Very irritating loss last night. Great atmosphere. Utah State will be in the NCAA's this year a very good team. 3 great Seniors in Shaw, Medlin, & Butterfield. I think they will finish 3rd, maybe even 2nd in the MW.

Weber is young, Senglin, Gittens, & Hill all Freshman played significant minutes last night. We had long stretches with 3 Freshman & a Soph on the floor together. Once Tresnak got his 4th foul we were in trouble, Hajek is still out until Dec.

This team will be dangerous by the time conference starts, but right just so young. Impressed with UM close game at Washington last night.

First loss at BYU was expected since Weber has never won in Provo and BYU is really good. Weber looked good at times in that game and terrible at times. Still, a nine point loss in Provo is nothing to worry about.

Second loss was a very unexpected blowout at Colorado St, a team that really isn't that good. Tresnak missing most of the game with a sprained ankle and Weber got into foul trouble. Still, anyway you try to explain it, it was a bad loss.

Third loss at home to Utah St by six wasn't too unexpected as Utah St is very good and Weber's home court advantage is always minimal in this game due to the closeness of the schools and how well USU students and fans travel. Weber had the halftime lead and could have won the game but did not play well the last ten minutes of the game. I think their youth showed at the end and USU is very experienced. But Weber showed some glimpses of how good they can, and probably will, become as the season moves on.

Weber has talent, that's for sure, but their youth is showing right now. Three freshman and one sophomore are playing significant minutes, two of which are starting. Rahe's system is complicated and it has a learning curve. Also, this team isn't proving to be as deep as many anticipated, especially after the loss of Wheelwright.

According to Sagarin, Weber's schedule so far has been the 5th hardest in the nation. Should get a win Saturday at home vs San Jose St.

This just might be the year the Big Sky has to appear in the "play in" game...mediocre play top to bottom.
