Weber State gets big-time big man commit

Who couldn't keep their coach? You don't think Rahe would be gone in a flash if offered a Pac-12 job? Success is the reason Tinks is at OSU and Rahe is still in Ogden. Read Potomac's stats. They represent objective criteria to use when evaluating success. Weber has a fine program as do the Griz. To suggest otherwise is delusional.

Yaaa, whatever you got to tell yourself to feel good. Tinkle wanted out badly, he felt scorned. Let's dig this thread up after the gristle finish 5-8th and are tossed after the first round, if they even make the tourney.

You are full of sh*t. Wayne loved (and still loves) Montana. He left to fulfill his career ambitions, and for MUCH MORE MONEY. No one can blame any Big Sky coach for moving up. We are a low-hanging Mid-major conference. A coaching stepping stone. Your coach will bolt too within a year or two.

I'd be willing to bet WSUnPurple was one of the people at the conference tourney last year who sat in the section behind UM's bench (remember Weber wasn't even playing) specifically so they could talk trash about Tinkle & the players. What was even worse, several of them were taking personal shots after it was clear the Griz were going to lose. I'm sure there are many Weber fans with class but those few idiots made Weber St look pretty bad. It looked clear there was some bitterness over UM's success over Weber in recent tourneys. WSUnPurple's stupid statements show he has no class & he's a poor loser...or maybe just a loser.

Congrats to Weber State on the signing.

AS much as I respect Weber State's program and Randy Rahe, WSUnPurple makes it so hard to pull for them.

Favor to other Weber State basketball fans who post on egriz, please show this idiot up. He drags your fans down. I am looking forward to reading some better quality of posts than from this idiot that predicts the same things over and over, just like a broken clock it will be right 2x's per day. Too bad for him, he has not been right on his GRIZ predictions for the most part of the last decade.

Go pop a protandim & rub on some trueScience, you'll feel better.

Okay, Thanks for the advice SWEBERCAT02. Seriously though are you familiar with Nrf2, it might help you with your dryness, crusty, & otherwise cantankerous persona.

I know that this thread has been hijacked & vandalized somewhat...

But since I started it all, I wanted to adjust my initial recruiting assesment a bit.

Did more analysis and came to the conclusion that Montana State, not Weber State is the current clear Big Sky leader in 2015 commitments. With about 3 weeks to go in the recruiting period.

There's no doubt that incoming coach Brian Fish has already made a huge impact on his program with early verbals from three frosh and one jc transfer. Two are 3-star recruits (ESPN); 6-3 combo guard Tyler Hall of Rock Island, Il is rated at 78 by ESPN, while 6-2 combo guard Mandrell Worthy, from Sammish, Wa, is rated 73 by ESPN. The other two, wing players Sam Neumann and Quinton Everett, don't have rating numbers.

If you visit the ESPN college recruitment site, a quick hop to examine ESPN's rating of the Wildcats will illustrate the difference.

Of course, this is the building of a team on paper. As we all know, the Griz under the leadership of Will Cherry and the play of Kareem Jamar, Brian Qvale, Derek Selvig, and Anthony Johnson shredded the paper advantage of the Wildcats over the past six years.

Regardless, Fish's Cats are the clear Big Sky leaders in 2015 recruiting so far, with Weber State, Montana and most recently Sac State (signing 6-2 Modesto, CA combo guard Jeff Wu & considered a seriously underrated 2-star shooting guard) who selected SAC yesterday.

NAU also signed a 3-star point guard, Michael Green of Ft Lauderdale, Florida

No other Big Sky school has any ranked players that -- to this date -- have made a verbal commitment for 2015.

None of this considers the impact of Australian, German, Spanish and/or other outstanding young talent from other countries... not normally rated by the current online ranking services.

Of course, I've surely missed some promising young talent on the horizon. Any corrections are welcomed.

Just wanted to clear a few things up. The Griz have won their fair share of recruits over Weber recently.

Anthony Johnson (Weber's women's basketball coach wouldn't offer his wife, so he went to UM) and we all know what happened with that one (Ugh!!).

Will Cherry went to UM, because he didn't want to play behind Damian Lillard. Granted, Lillard has had a far better professional career, but Will won the championships.

Art Steward was offered by both schools. To me, he was one of the best glue men in conference history. He was such a great leader on and off the floor. Frank Mook Otis would have gone to UM, but the Grizz didn't have a scholarship, so luckily, Weber was able to get him, but it was close.

Jermaine Edmonds and Daniel Nwosu were both recruited by both schools. Weber passed on Edmonds, and never brought in Nwosu, because we got the JC we wanted, but Weber thought enough about both to give them looks. They are both good players. I think Weber would have made more of a run if they would have had two years instead of one at JCs under their belts.

As for the recruiting wars and who has recruited the best. Jordan Dallas is a huge recruit. Admittedly, he is one of the best big men to come to Weber out of high school since the 1980s. He reminds me a lot of a Weber State great from the 80s. He is going to be good. How good, well that depends on him. Emmanuel Nzekwesi is also a very highly rated recruit. He had 16 offers that we know about and was receiving interest from Oklahoma, TCU, and Texas A&M. A major program made a late run at him, but he stayed true to the four schools he committed to visit and decided on Weber. Juwan Williams had a handful too. But, this doesn't say anything. Scotty Bamforth only had three offers coming out of his JC, and he ended up being one of Weber State's greatest players. Bruce Collins, also a Weber State great, was completely overlooked. What I'm saying is, just because ESPN says so, doesn't mean they will develop or become a great player. Look at Brandon Cataldo at PSU. He was an ESPN 90 and what has he done?

I like Oguine and Samuelson, both will need time. Oguine will be able to play, probably, immediately, but who knows. He is a good add and one of the best in the Sky. But the Griz need bigs.

Thanks for the time to post. Weber basketball fans are solid. Too bad there is one Weber fan who such an ass here. Your last sentence (but the GRIZ need bigs) is exactly why I'm disappointed in missing out on Jordan Dallas. He is a sorely needed big we need. It makes it even harder to stomach when the best basketball school in the conference lands him. I would have been upset and disappointed had any other Big Sky school landed him as well.

Best of luck to Weber State this season. Thank God, basketball season is here. :thumb:

Just ignore purple. He's despised on the Weber board.

Thanks to the other Weber fans who come on her and sensibly talk hoops.
