Visitor needing help: Game 1

I would cancel your reservation in Whitefish and plan on spending that sat night in Missoula. Whitefish is a 2+ hr drive from Missoula and I promise you that you won't feel like making that drive after experiencing a Griz Game Day. As for lodging and parking, there are several motels near the stadium on East Broadway and you just park there and make the easy 5-10 minute walk across the footbridge into the tailgates and stadium. There are hundreds of great tailgate partys. Grzfnz's is a place to get exceptional grub and alot of eGrizzers hang out there also. Check this board in august as the game approaches but I certainly would recommend spending at least sat night in Missoula, and fri night as well as the nightlife on a fri night before a game is incredible in the previously mentioned places like Reds and Mo Club. While in Mo Club be sure to get a hot pepper cheeseburger. Before the game on sat morn the Press Box is very close to the stadium and have some wicked bloody Marys to help you recover from the previous night and they also have a great breakfast buffet. Don't leave Montana without experiencing Griz Gameday it truly is a wonderful experience and after 12 years of missing only 2 games it just never gets old.
Same thing I was going to say. If you can work it out stay in Missoula Sat night. The drive back to Whitefish will not be fun and it will be close to a three hour drive if not a little more with all the others making that drive back.

Brains and eggs at the Oxford Hotel. :beef:

Oxford Hotel ?...It was more fun back in the "GOD's" when the ever colorful Shorty, putting in the order, simply said, "He needs em'"...
I don't think they have served brains for several years now since the mad cow scare and they banned all restaurants from serving them.

"He needs 'em" still the first item on the menu !

They DO NOT serve them anymore. They just never removed them form the menu, trust me, we ask every time we go in.

He said he already has his rooms booked in Whitefish that night but with 4 months until the game I'm sure he could cancel those without penalty.

I've tried 'Expedia' once; no problem. Had three nights booked at Super 8 down in Austin for the SXSW Music Festival third week of March 2010. Drove 3,200 miles round trip from out of Montana but it was well worth it. Got in a day ahead of time and got the same room for four nights total along with a $ 50 discount on the first night. Had a great time.

Agree, AZGrizfan is fos. I have saved a lot of bucks using these sites. You don't always get EXACTLY what you are looking for, but I'll take 50 or 75 bucks a night in savings. If you have unlimited funds when travelling then you should by all means pay full price for an empty motel like AZGriz fans suggests.

How do they "suck". They serve a purpose bacause they allow people to take advantage of deals that can save them considerable bucks. They also have drawbacks like locking dates in that can't be changed. Any informed consumer knows this and the people running these motels wouldn't be participating if it wasn't helpful to their bottom line. So I fail to see any way that this "sucks". If I had me some priceline stock even more so. If you don't like it pay retail, no skin off anyone's (including your) ass.

Of course I agree the gameday eve should be spent here with a mo club peppercheese burger and a couple toddies with Vaughn at Red's.

OK. Is your name Jeffrey Boyd (President/CEO of Priceline)? I don't believe I've EVER seen someone defend discount travel sites so vehemently.

They suck because if you try to save money, you're locked in and many times life gets in the way and you're out the money. They also suck because many, MANY times the exact same fares are available at the individual airlines'/hotels' websites without the "no lock" clause. They suck because, while they all profess to get you the "best deal", the vast majority of the time they all have the exact SAME prices. And Priceline specifically sucks because the last thing I'm going to do is trust some yokel at a website with their version of a "3-Star Hotel" just to save $50.

But that's just my opinion. You obviously disagree so you continue to use them, Mr. Boyd. More power to you. :thumb:

You're probably right, Hammer!

Knowing him as long as I have, let's just call it "wishful thinking" on my part about what I perceive to be between that poor ol' non-hacker's ears!
