Vim's 2018 Montana High School Football Recruiting List

Where do you see Seth Schneider right now? To me he is the best player on a very good Capital team.

He and DE Justin Jenks are performing at high levels. The big thing with Seth is his top-end speed. Great between the tackles runner. I think he deserves a shot at the FCS level as either a RB or LB. I think Justin deserves a shot as a DE or DL in general.

Out of all the solid players on the Capital football team, those two are standing out to me. Seth is having a GPOY start to his senior season and Justin is in the conversation for DPOY in AA.

regardless of what list the two local experts come up in their final analysis,,,,it would be difficult to dispute that the griz are owning the state (406) this year.

I'm not an expert but the Griz have received commitments from several of my top kids in the Montana Recruiting Class of 2018. The recruiting year lined up well for the Griz in-state with Sulser being the top prospect and Nick Germer being a Top 10 kid right away. Those two were going to be Griz unless an enticing FBS offer came Sulser's way. Drew Turner (recruiting circumstances aside with the Cats getting commitments from three other prep RB's) was a big get for the Griz because of their need to develop a between-the-tackles running back. He was also high-up on the Cats list so, despite getting commitments from other backs prior to Drew committing, the Cats still wanted Drew to be a part of their future backfield. Garrett Graves is just a talented kid that can develop at multiple positions and was a top priority recruit for both the Cats and Griz in-state. The Bobcats biggest get in my opinion has been Nolan Askelson who is doing a bit of everything for Billings Senior this year. He and Sulser are playing at very high levels right now. Here is my preseason Top 5:

1) Gabe Sulser - Griz
2) Drew Turner - Griz
3) Nolan Askelson - Bobcats
4) Nick Germer - Griz
5) Garrett Graves - Griz

As of right now, I don't see Sulser, Turner, or Askelson moving based off how they are playing. Germer is still having a solid senior season despite a broken arm suffered during the summer. And Garrett is looking better than last year at the QB position.

But after these five, it is a total crap shoot. It will be fun to see how everyone finishes their senior years. I have an updated Top 50 list on the Montana Recruits 2018 thread at Bobcatnation that I put together prior to the 2017 fall season starting. Howard's list is there as well.

vim thanks for responding....keep in mind i am griz through and through however i have a question about how you decide who is the best player.....i live in billings and know how good sulser is but askelson is the straw that stirs the proverbial drink at senior (offense and defense).....the kid is 6'2" 210 pounds, athletic, strong, fast and does everything for senior as you know....in watching them play, it is really askelson that is the best player on that team (imo) even though he is going to be a bobcat ,,,ha!

Gabe is at a different speed than everyone else and he isn't just "north/south" fast.

We can just make the problem a moot point by flipping Askelson to a Griz. :D

Braxton Hill, torn labrum. Football season done, basketball season in question.

He's another that I hope gets at least PWO from the Griz. I know coaches have their eye on him. He's one of the better athletes to come out of Anaconda (which is saying something) according to many of the Anaconda locals. His sister played for the Lady Griz so there are some good ties there.

Sounds like he is going to try and play through it.

Didn't he only play the first game?

Janacaro from Big Sky is a very good athlete. Has 3 tds tonight vs Glacier. One was a 94 yard to run

Turner (Griz verbal) has 3 tds including a 60 yard td run

Janacaro and Turner both have 4 tds with 4 minutes left in the game

Was he not offered by the Griz or Cats?

He didn’t post anything on twitter. Not that that means he wasn’t offered by them, but as far as announcing anything, it doesn’t look like either offered him

I've watched Big Sky play a couple of times on TV. Janacaro looks to me to be the real deal. Decent speed, outstanding vision and elusiveness. If the Griz don't offer him, I think we'll all regret it when he shows up as a Cat or an EWU or an Idaho spud.

What position is he in college? Running back? When I watched his tape the only weakness at the college level would be his top end speed but that’s my opinion.
