Van Diest resigns from Carroll College today

Very well put! A couple of things have happened over the last couple of months that has made him realize that family comes first. There isn't anything else to speculate and Howlett will do a great job, but it will be way harder to keep him around now that MVD is gone.

Guess it's a good thing MVD wasn't picked over Delaney to be interim HC?

You should probably phrase it that it is a good thing MVD told Royce no to becoming the interim Coach, not wasn't picked!

Well if that's the way it went, regardless, a good thing.

Carroll is not going down without a fight! MVD still Coach 'for now', but it is still not looking good!

My take, MVD is done, Carroll not ready to let it be.

If I've learned anything from College football and the rumors and scandals from the past year I'm going to just wait until the press conference happens before I write it off as over.

Although I'm sure if he is worked up over something and doesn't show for practice tonight the internet will light up again saying he is certainly gone.

One fact in 48 posts: Press conference Tuesday.

You have no idea what is fact and what is not fact. What you do know is that the press has only confirmed that there will be a press conference.

Actually looks like the press conference is postponed.

Carroll College football coach Mike Van Diest has not resigned, contrary to reports and rumors.

The 6-time NAIA National Championship-winning coach is currently away from the team while he decides on his future.

Carroll athletic director Bruce Parker has been in contact with Van Diest and is continuing to do so as the Fighting Saints prepare for their first game on August 24th.

Parker says he hopes to have "an idea of where things are going in a day or two."

We will continue to keep you updated as more becomes available at Carroll College.

Sheesh...this is messed up. He's currently away from the team while he decides on his future with a game on the 24th. Side note: Could be good news for the Diggers...jus sayin.

For what it's worth I received an email from a friend who talked to a former player. There was a player that went down with heat exhaustion and the player went back to his dorm room and called his parents. His parents then called the AD and VD, Mike then basically said "the hell with it I am done, I am retiring." Carroll is trying to work it out between the parents and VD and that is why the press conference for tomorrow has been cancelled.

Take it for what its worth, but I sure hope he reconsiders and stays with Carroll.
