Utah Safety Jeilani Davis Commits

That would be the 1 that I referenced.
It's only been like two years that we're seeing this strategy as necessary across the landscape of college football.

The NIL ruling, the graduation of covid players, and the 105 player roster limits all made this season a perfect storm.

It would not shock me at all if NDSU and SDSU were both forced to adopt this strategy in the next year or two, unless something changes.

If UM goes on a tear this season and outclasses the neighbors, you're gonna see a ton of cat fans insist that they have to "get with the times" and go after big transfer classes.

Ya, and we’ve done what I’m guessing you’re implying can’t be done? So what’s your argument against it again?
Two general problems I have here. First, I generally think players that have transferred once are more prone to transfer again. I just prefer/believe in a different recruiting philosophy. Hope I’m wrong.

The second would be that bringing in 30 transfers implies the HS recruiting, and transfer recruiting, has been sub standard. Despite what some claim, bringing in 30 transfers is atypical for top programs. So, the implied concern is that if the recruiting has been bad enough to have to drastically rebuild the roster in one off season, what confidence is there that the staff has fixed whatever problem they had? I realize this sounds somewhat doom and gloom, and I really don’t believe it is, but the question remains.

Do you have anything to support your first problem? Second, of course adding 30 transfers is atypical...up until the past couple seasons is wasn't a possibility to have access to that number of players.

As for the first, I think in the very near future, all most all recruits are gonna be transfer happy and you’re gonna have to rerecruit your own kids every year. As for your 2nd, I thought the same thought but I think I’ve come around to a more positive spin. Most of these transfers were 3-4 star recruits and mostly out of our normal reach as an FCS program. Now, due to the drastic change in the college landscape, we all of a sudden have access and can be a draw to these high level kids that are looking for immediate playing time. Ultimately though, I think this is the new way of football and we’re just gonna have to get use to it.

I remember coach Hauck talking about the "mercenary attitude" of some transfer players in the pre-portal days. He didn't shy away from transfers then, but I think right about that attitude not being very helpful.

There's a lot of buy in to be done by a transfer class this big.

Having to replace all of the defensive starters leaves a big hole to fill. That doesn't mean recruiting has been subpar. It means the players graduated, transferred or retired. You just find to look for something negative.

The teams looks terrific, athletic and big in summer practices, which started this week. The O and D lines look very large. After the coach-participation part, less than an hour, the players stayed for a PRP-type session for a long time, and were having alot of fun.

I talked to a January transfer. He said the team is full of terrific guys and he can tell that Montana is a special place. "Everyone wants to transfer to a proven winner that has the potential to go all the way." He said his dad had played and coached in Griz stadium and had told him that it is one of the loudest stadiums in the country.

Fck that. We should the best gawdamn HS recruiting class every gawdamn year at this level.

Unfortunately UM has weak-minded timid leaders at every level though.
Hmmm. Let’s see. New member. Under 40 posts. Trolling to the max. Not biting bud. The staff is doing awesome and it burns apparently. Probably a Cat troll or someone else who is butt hurt about BH. Did he steal your girlfriend? I am sure he would be willing to give the poster back.

Yes, I know them well and they are always completely truthful and forthcoming with me. You probably don't have strong relationships with people and people who trust you.

I wouldn't expect you to say anything else, though.
I was with you until you attacked PTGrizzly with personal insults. That shows a person who is not secure with the information they have shared.

The real question is, if they told you otherwise, would you be honest with us?

Check out the size of some of the FBS transfer classes that they have brought in and come back to me. You’re acting like is this really huge random crazy one off number there are plenty of big boy programs that have done the same exact thing over the last couple years.

A huge thing I’ve noticed with the majority of these transfers is they have 2 to 3 or even 4 seasons left. It’s not like we’re just trying to grab a whole bunch of seniors.
