How's that for sitting on the fence?Htowngriz said:Honestly, the Bison had the Marker game coming up this week, and I'm sure they were well aware they could beat Mo State comfortably with probably 50% effort. In most cases, when you're up only 15 through most of the game ... that qualifies as "letting the opponent hang around." Generally a bad idea that can turn around an bite you in the butt, with just a couple of bad/weird breaks going the wrong way.
But I can also see the other side. Missouri State (1-5)* is so bad, that -- with a huge game coming up -- a game against them would seem, mentally, like as a glorified scrimmage.
* Mo State's only win was against Western Illinois, which has won zero games this year and had a losing record last year.
Bison were in complete control the entire game. They had a couple of drives stall out. Probably should have scored a TD on a drive that stalled on the Missouri State 13 yard line and then subsequently shanked a 31 yard field goal.
Missouri State was doing nothing on offense. They had like 21 yards total on the ground.
When your defense completely shuts out a team, you aren’t letting them hang around. That game was never in doubt.
I like to think of NDSU as "the team with a heart". That's why it was so close.
