UNC fires B.J. Hill

Because of alleged NCAA violations. Not much on the details. UNC also suspended the rest of the coaching staff. Here's the link to the Greeley Tribune.

Doesn't sound very good. Anyone have any insider info?

Nope. It's an ongoing story, so more information will come later. It must have been pretty serious stuff because the university president supported Hill strongly.

So, if they actually are found guilty of something by the NCAA and are not eligible for post season play, will they still be allowed to play in the Big Sky Tourney since all the schools of the conference are invited?

Good. I just don't like him. Now if Jack Murphy would get fired I'd be pretty well set.

Back to this again?

If you can't see that Jack Murphy and Travis Decuire both threw gasoline on the fire in that situation then you probably should take off those maroon colored glasses. Murphy started it...and may I add shouldn't have reacted in that manner. I applaud the league/NAU for reprimanding him. But Decuire certainly did what he could to keep the situation between him and Murphy going. That was a smart play on his part as it fired up the home crowd for the following night's game vs. EWU.

Oh I agree with you 100%. I've disliked him since before that event ever took place though. I just think he's a classless jerk and has no business being on the sideline. What you said is absolutely spot on though, especially the last part. Travis won over (even more?) several of the students that were there that night with his fire.

Lots of strong opinions about B.J. Hill, in both directions, at their fanboard.

Apparently an ego was involved.
What's tragic about it all is coach Hill let the success of his first season go to his head! He believed all the hype he was told about himself and his team (or more so Boyle's team) as if He created the success that year. Then reality set in the next year and he could never live up to the image he believed he had in his own mind. It is a tragedy and I never like to see someone fail but the reality is any program that lacks integrity from the leader will eventually fail!
BJ is a class A douche bag. I'm not surprised at all that there is an NCAA investigation, probably initiated due to all the players he's screwed over the years. The funniest thing is this comes on the day the Sam writes a "woe is me" article about all the players jumping shit. Sam again looks like a brown nosing butthole.
This is a travesty! I don't everything that has gone on within the program the past few years but BJ Hill was simply a demanding individual who wanted the best for his team and more importantly the best for his players. His guys (Beitzel, Proctor, Barden, Michael) were all vocal about how much they admired his leadership and how he genuinely cared for them. Tom Izzo gave his take on why kids transfer so much as of recent and I think he's spot on (Link below) College basketball is hard! And when kids face some real-life adversity for the first time in their life they want to run (aka transfer).
Nobody there seems to have any idea what actually spurred the firing and investigation.

Yikes - not a good time for this to happen - as mad as the NCAA is at North Carolina they might just shut down Norther Colorado to show UNC(s) they are serious this time.
